Surfing Down Under
This was the only standing up we did all day! Hello Everyone and Happy New Year! Hope you had a great festive season! At the moment I am travelling up the east coast of Australia, had a bit of spare time today so thought I would update this beast so I don't have to write a really long one in a few weeks time! So enjoy my ramblings and try to not get too bored, and i hope you enjoy all our run ins with celebrities!
Bondi Beach We spent xmas and new year staying in the swanky Swiss Grand Hotel in Bondi Beach, which was a 5 star hotel! A little bit of luxury that I think we deserved! Features of the hotel included a rooftop pool, which we spent most of our time, and two double beds in our room! This meant that I didn't have to share a bed with Sarah! Potentially the best xmas present of all! Our time in Bondi Beach was a relatively chilled affair that largely consisted of sitting on the beach or by the pool and then spending the evening at the Bondi Hotel after playing the 'Smartie Game' with a box of wine! Lethal stuff! Xmas day on
Brewery Tour!
Us in our macho poses! Bondi was pretty cool, after waking up slightly fragile we spent the morning on the beach, before having the traditional xmas day lunch of beef red curry(!) then going to Alix and Shelly's apartment in the evening for some trivial pursuit action! Was completely unchristmassy but good fun all the same! New Years Eve was really good too! We saw the famous fireworks over the Sydney Harbour bridge! VERY impressive I must say! And saw the new year in with some pink champagne! Very fabulous! As well as generally chilling during our time in Bondi we watched the sydney to hobart yacht race on boxing day, visited the sydney aquarium and saw the kylie minogue exhibition! Rob, you would have loved it! We also spent a day learning to surf! Apparently we were meant to be standing by the end of the day....umm... not sure that happened all that much! I would like to blame my high centre of gravity for my generaly crapness! All the surfing lesson managed to do was get me rashed up, as the Aussies would say! However the most exciting thing about Bondi was all the celebrities in our hotel! Stiffler from American Pie was
Cute Koalas!
They're working it for the camera! there and FatBoy Slim! And more impressively we got to chat to Fatboy Slim as he shared a lift with us! Sarah kinda screamed at him to be fair! Not cool!
Byron Bay After leaving Bondi me, Sarah and Cathy (a girl we met in Thailand and who we remet up with in Bondi) headed to the backpacker mecca of Byron Bay! We had to endure a 12 hour bus journey, during which i was sat on a chair above the engine! Just a little bit hot and gross you could say! Whilst there we had a generally chilled time, sitting on the beach a fair bit and going out! Also i went for a run! Get me! Though the weather was kinda awful! Was a really cool chilled out place and would have stayed for longer if only it wasn't raining all the time!!
Surfers Paradise After Byron Bay we headed to Surfers Paradise, which is a proper tourist resort! We sepnt three days there, first day on the beach where we enjoyed the huge waves! Second day we went to Wet and Wild, a cool water park nearby! And the
Harriet the 176 Year Old Tortoise!
Harriet remembers fondly growing up with Sarah's mum, though it appears time was far kinder to the tortoise! Best get some Oil of Olay Anne! third day we went to Dreamworld, an Alton Towers like place! Our time in Surfers was really good and our hostel was very nice, but again the weather was being lame! Also met lots of interesting people! Including Elaine, the 52 year old who had a love of 'cocksucking cowboys' and told me about her threesome with two 26 year olds the week before. Nice. One night there we went on a Backpacker bar crawl where we went from place to place getting a free drink in each! We also got friendly with the rep so we got more free drinks! The whole thing was all a bit club 18-30 but was a fun night! Though the next day when we were going on spinning rides we felt rough as hell!
Brisbane Post Surfers we spent a day in Brisbane! Our time there involved general city exploration, shopping, nearly getting fined by the transport police, going on a 'scenic' boat ride and Sarah getting her 'new do!' Before we left the following day we went on a Castlemaine Brewery tour! Very manly of me I like to think! The end of the tour we got four
Noosa Beach!
Just to make you jealous! Hope England is just as nice! pints of beer, which I managed to finish in half an hour, largely because we were gonna miss our bus! Even so, I feel very macho!
Noosa We then headed up the coast to Noosa, a little posh resort town with a really nice beach! We were only there for two days, one of them days was spent by the beach, on which i burned! Not cool! Though the weather has got better now, which is nice! The other day we went to Steve Irwin's zoo!! Was a really cool day and he was there and everything doing his crocodile show!!! Also got to cuddle Koalas and me thinks they are the cutest aniamls ever with their gormless little faces! And got up close with the kangaroos!! Was a really good day but just a bit too hot!!
After leaving Noosa we then headed to Harvey Bay!! Which I find myself in right this moment!! Heading on our Fraser Island trip tomorrow before heading up the rest of the coast, taking in the Whitsundays and such before ending up in Cairns! Am really looking forward to it and it looks like the weather will be lush!! Then the plan is fly to Melbourne to work for a few months! And no doubt go on the Neighbours tour countless times!
So take care of yourselves everyone and hope to hear from you soon!! Oh and don't forget its my birthday on the 24th of January!! And I'll be doing something pretty exciting that day which I will enjoy telling you about in my next installment! Until then, hope you're all well!!
Loveage
