Floating on the rapids
The shallow part of the creek where the kids played for hours.Spent New Year up at Borumba, near Gympie in Queensland. Stayed at the Borumba Deer Park. Great place to camp. The creek was fantastic for the kids and the 4WDing in the state forest was excellent and heaps of fun.
The deer park has wonderful facilities with hot showers and flushing toilets. The owners run regular activities for the kids such as deer feeding, face painting and a disco. Dogs on a lead are allowed.
Heaps of people bring their boats to go water skiing or fishing as the dam is only 2 minutes up the road.
We had a great time and enjoyed the company of some really great people.
The creek was really good for all age groups as it had a long section that was quite deep - deep enough for the older kids to swing off rope swings into the water below. This lead into a section that was shallower and had small rapids for the younger kids to play in.

The water was crystal clear and very refreshing would float down together while I walked up to where the shallow part of the creek was with the small rapids and wait for them to meet me there. The best part about this part of the creek was that it was shallow enough for the kids to play and surrounded by really big trees that provided shade. The kids spent hours just mucking around in the water and "building" the rock wall to create a small dam.
By the way - ignore the date on these photos - it isn't 2003 - really it is 2011/12 - I just forgot to fix the date on the camera after charging the batteries!!
