Spider
Isn't that gross? There was an entire display of probably hundreds of spiders and THAT was a smaller one... it gave me the chills just looking at it. Hey Everyone!!!
I'm sorry it's been so long since I've updated... I actually had to go back to see what I told you all about and what pictures I've uploaded already. Bad me, I know! So... since the Dolphin Trip/Blue Mountains Tour weekend, it's been go go go! The pictures in the post before this correlate (somewhat) with what this post is about... so maybe two and two won't be so hard to put together. I hope! I'll also upload a ton of pictures to this post as well... you'll be able to see that though!
July 22nd 2008 -- The entire Tourism and Recreation Management group had a presentation at Sydney Wildlife World and then Rebekah and I went to lunch, to see the new Batman on the IMAX screen (the biggest in the world) and then to the Sydney Aquarium, which is awesome. There's a tunnel that you walk through and all around you, there are fish and sharks and sting rays swimming above and next to you. Pretty sweet!
July 23rd - 24th 2008 -- Had lectures on Destination Crisis Management and a review for the final exam. Nothing too exciting really...

Most Venomous Snake in the World
I couldn't get a picture of the most poisonous spider in the world but I did get the most venomous snake!! Not bad, huh? 2008 -- Left Sydney for Coolangatta (the Gold Coast) and arrived at around 11:35am where we then checked into our accommodation at the Islander (in Surfers Paradise -- the Gold Coast) and then promptly left for the Palazzo Versace where we had a presentation. Wow! I'd be afraid to stay in one of those rooms. The cheapest room (which was still very nice) was about $500/night and the most expensive room was about $3500/night ... yes, $3500 per night! Ridiculous! There's apparently a large middle eastern presence at the Gold Coast right now due to a royal family's wedding... there were a couple of girls who went to eat at the Seafood Buffet ($100/person -- which is why I didn't go!) and saw the bride and wedding party. Probably pretty neat, but wasn't worth $100 for anything...
July 26th 2008 -- We went to Dream World Theme Park! This was no Six Flags or Hershey Park but it was fun to just go and hang out and not have to worry about anything or anyone. Rebekah and I rode 5-6 rides total in a 6 hour time period... it was quite crowded. We rode The Claw, Wipeout, Cyclone, Moto-Coaster,
Australia's Largest Lizard
I tried to catch one but those suckers can RUN!! Ha ha!!
Just kidding... I did have you imagining me running after that lizard though, didn't I? ... one that spins you upside down and then ... one more, but I can't think of what it was. Oh well!
July 27th 2008 -- Sunday was a free day for us... I finished up my experience journal to turn in and got online at the Starbucks a bit to talk to Johnny. I really can't remember what all I did day to day, but Rebekah and I walked on the beach, went to souvenir shops, went to lunch and dinner at various places (one of the reasons I am broke!) and all sorts of fun stuff.
Pop Pop -- I apologize for not calling or emailing to wish you a happy birthday... I hope that it was a great one and I promise next year, I'll call! =)
July 28th 2008 -- We left our hotel early in the morning in order to drive to Brisbane and depart for Cairns. We arrived in Cairns around 12:10pm ... safely! There's been lots of problems with Qantas flights lately... I hope that out of the 2 more Qantas Flights that nothing goes wrong with them! *crosses my fingers* That was about all that we did Monday... it
Cool Sign
I thought that was a pretty neat sign... it's a little blurry but was awesome. There were dingo's howling while walking up the ramps to the nocturnal animals exhibit. was a settle in and figure out Cairns type of day!
Madeline -- Happy Belated Birthday!!! =) Since you're reading this!!
July 29th 2008 -- We hopped on a ferry (Big Cat) to Green Island for the day. We had the opportunity to go snorkeling, however it was low tide, cold and windy, so I took the opportunity to go on a Glass Bottom Boat to see the coral and fish of a portion of the Great Barrier Reef. We also had a presentation on Sustainable Tourism in practice as well as a trip to the on-site sewage treatment plant and the desalination plant as well. It was about as interesting as watching grass grow... and that's being nice.
July 30th 2008 -- That would be yesterday. We had our final exam at 12:30pm yesterday, which was easy... with the right amount of studying. I probably could have studied more, but I knew the general concepts, so it was easy for me. Then, last night at 7:00pm, we had a presentation on things to do for the next 4 days (today -- Thursday -- through Sunday!) Because everyone wants to know... this is what I had the
Koala
You could get your picture taken with the Koala's... unfortunately, like everything else, that cost money so I just took a picture of the Koala! opportunity to do: (I have all the pamphlets here... it's exciting! I definitely wish that I had more money!)
www.ragingthunder.com.au
www.ajhackett.com
www.raft.com.au
www.jungletours.com.au
www.xtremeskydiving.com.au
www.reeftrip.com.au
Those are all the website of the companies that we had to choose from... looks wonderful... huh? You also see how expensive it is!! Ahh!!
So what am I doing...
On www.reeftrip.com ... go to Reef Encounter ... and I am doing the two day/one night package. He tried to talk me into the three day/two night package in order to get my dive license, but ... no worries Dad, I'm not doing it. It was tempting, but... expensive as well!
So... that is what I am doing and that leads me to today. I am not doing anything today. I'll probably go to the gym later (the only free part of staying here!) and then to grab a bite to eat for dinner and to pack for tomorrow's cruise... but other than that... not a whole heck of a lot!
This internet is being really slow... at the moment, so I'll have to upload pictures when I can find a better connection. Probably not until I am home, sadly... but possibly in the airport or somewhere!
