The Van!!!
All hail the mighty van G'Day folks,
Well it's been a while but we are very busy having a good time. Australia was excellent. That's all I remember.
We flew in from Singapore to sunny Cairns and after a long trip we hit Oz land. It was very weird as we had come from Asia and everyone was speaking ze English and were largely white. Everything seemed really expensive as a room in a hostel had gone from 7 US dollars to 90 Oz dollars, wowsers!!! We got sorted in the 'Global Palace' which was full of younguns running around flirting with each other and coming in at all hours shouting their heads off (especially the girls). We soon got ourselves out of there and rented the van. We hit the raod and heaed north to Port Douglas which as a pretty little place with palm trees and beautiful beaches everywhere. Problem was we were there in stinger season, so you are limited as to when you can bath in the sea. Jellyfish, sharks and crocodiles. Sweet.
As we were conscious of saving money we decided not to 'plug in' anywhere so parked the van in a car park at the side of a main

The wife with the famous church road. We didn't sleep very well as we kept expecting the police to come a knocking. In the morning we got a pan and some soap and poured water over each other for a nice shower. What people driving past must have thought. It was fun though. You can get washed pretty quickly under such circumstances.
Travelling south we hit many, many beaches all of which we took advantage of.
We stopped at a crocodile farm and seen some massive crocs, they put on a cool show although when they showed us the hot room where they keep the baby crocs in the dark at 90 degrees for a year to grow them kind of spoiled it a little.
We had Easter on the beach which was weird as it was really hot. We were at Misson Beach and bumped into the Easter Bunny in full costume. How the guy didn't fall over in the heat is beyond me.
Highlight was a trip to the reef from Airlie Beach. A full day on the boat with full food and drinks. Snokelling over the coral and being surrounded by thousands of tropical fish was amazing. Lorraine was a little feared but

Niall picks the wrong croc to mess with once we got going she was off swimming all over the place. To have food that you could eat as much of as you liked was a big plus.
It took us five weeks to drive all the way down to Sydney and we caught up with friends there. It was great to see familar faces after so long.
The thing about Australia is the wild life, things you haven't seen except for on the T.V. Massive bats, crocs, fish, cassiowarries(!?!?) the list goes on.
Australia was wicked after 500 kms of driving though, it was time to hit NZ. (Plus the money was draining at an alarming rate).
