The Best Aussie Flag Ever!!The Best Aussie Flag Ever!!The Best Aussie Flag Ever!!

Whilst Embarking on Byrons Unofficial City Tour, We spotted the best Aussie Flag we had ever seen!!
Today must go down as one of the funniest unplanned days so far where upon after a very normal start of toast and coffee and a trip into the town centre...I met Byron coming out of a shop before somehow embarking on his 'Unofficial City Tour'. We started off at the Casino and having never set foot in such an establishment in my life was very curious as to what I would find. It actually looked pretty much how they are portrayed on television...fruit machines spread around everywhere, poker and pontoon tables in the centre with female dealers handling chips and handing out cards whilst punters sit at them looking an unhealthy shade of white as they lose again. Next stop, a seafood restaurant...home to George, a $300 lobster!! I feel really sorry for not just George, but lobsters in general. Imagine sitting around in a huge tank contemplating the moment you are plucked out and plunged into boiling water...if I were a lobster, I would hide permanently under a rock somewhere, unfortunately for George, he is a shade too big!! I think I am going to start a 'Save George Campaign'. We then proceeded onto a TAB bookies where upon once I had figured out the betting slip...I placed $1 on Amanda's Gift at 6/1, It won!!! (Thanks hon hehehe x) After a short detour past the Little Aussie Bum Club, the alternative Cairns tour ended with a stroll along the Esplanade and once we managed to somehow resist the lure of the exercise areas, I saw the most amazing flag I have seen in my whole life...drapped across the shoulders of an Australian bikini clad blonde posing for a photographer!! After surveying the sight for a few minutes, we returned to the hostel and plunged into the pool (complete with noodle) to cool down!! Dinner tonight was a very typical local dish...beef stroganoff and rice at Gilligans Bar, a favourite haunt of quite a few backpackers who require a free meal and who fancy a change from the Woolshed. Tonight Byron, Laura and I found ourselves watching Third Man Out, a very gay film that left us squirming in our seats and reaching for the remote...though unbelievably, we ended up watching the whole thing!! This Worries Me!!!
