everything to an australian is "so good" !

ok so i havent update in agessss and now i really cant remember everything that has happened in the past 2 weeks or so! but here are some highlights: we have gone with the aussie boys twice now to watch them surf! its sooo so cool and hard looking! once of the days we decided to go to the waters edge to feel how cold it was and it was so not cold and the waves were so big and it was so tempting that we ended up just going in with our clothes on! but it was so amazing swimming in the waves - they were sooo big! both times they went surfing, we went about an hours drive south of brisbane to a city called surfers paradise. its such a cool city - right on and endless beach - but its also super touristy and commercial. we also went down to surfers to meet up with jenny, the girl who is running the watercan at griffith university chapter. i went there to talk to and meet the watercan group there and that was pretty cool. there are about 150 canadian students at that university, and a bunch of them turned up to the meeting and i felt like i was back in canada again! we stayed at jennys for 2 nights (she lives in a highrise on the beach and it was sooo stunning!) and while we were there we went to the shops in surfers paradise and went to a good surfing beach nearby called burleigh heads and went to the currumbin wildlife sanctuary! at currumbin we saw all sorts of aussie animals like koalas, wombats, and of course kangaroos! they have a little enclosure there too where you can pet the kangaroos and that made us very happy 😊

we have also met a lot of aussie friends in this city, which is nice since its going to be the city of our residence for the next few months! the past 2 weekends we have gone out to the valley ...which is like the byward market times a million! there are sooo many bars and some of the streets are closed to traffic so there are just people everywhere its insane! it was a lot of fun, and our new little group of friends is very awesome. on one of the nights before we went to the valley we went over to this guy eugenes house who like lives in the coolest house i have ever seen ...its like a hippy house in the rainforest! he has a huge wrap around balcony and we played kings out there for hours and hours with goon punch. (goon is ridiculously cheap aussie wine sold in a bag....all the aussies drink it but its so gross that you have to make punch with it or its pretty disguisting!) while we were playing this little possum kept coming to visit and it was really cute but scary at the same time!!

i cant even think of what else we have done here in brisbane! a few days we just went into town to go to the internet cafes and shops and things....we have also applied to a few jobs and such! some place emailed me back about doing some temp work at the hospital doing admin stuff so hopefully that will work out...its just for a few hours and temporarily but at least its something (ps minimum wage here is so much better and at that job id be making $22 an hour so its pretty decent!) i feel like theres so much more we have done but i really cant remember right now! im going to try to update this more often....
