Mel on Noosa Beach
Mel at the beach in Noosa, the day that we arrived. We are back in Brisbane now... We arrived today at about 3pm from Sydney, after experiencing Qantas' idea of making check-in quicker, which is called 'Quickcheck' although it does not live up to the name, as it makes everthing about 3 times as long as just checking in normally. We were also delayed for about 45 minutes, so left at about 2:20 rather than 1:35 (Sydney time).
The flight was quite good. It was really quick, and we got a snack, which wasn't great, but it was okay...
We landed in Brisbane a bit later than scheduled. We met Sophie and Dad at the gate, and we went to collect our bags. We went up to Mt Cootha, and took some photos of the city, and then headed back to the unit to unpack, and have dinner.
We thought that we would now look back over our experiences from the last 7 1/2 weeks of travelling, and point out a few highlights and amazing experiences...
Cage Diving with Great Whites - Amazing day, beautiful creatures and freezing sea, also scary minibus driver!
Table Mountain - awesome views, cool 360 degree cable car, pretty, see for miles...
Eli Creek
Lauren at Eli Creek on Fraser Island Imizamo Yethu - Wow, friendly kids, happy people despite adversity.
Aquarium - Fishy... saw jellyfish without being stung or scared, scary crab things and sharks.
Being away from home - wierd not having parents, freedom, Mel moaning about Andrew.
Safari - 4 of the Big 5, lots of other wildlife, Lions were amazing, hanging out with kids...
Driving - Scary, dangerous, fun, good fast car (better than ours!), poor Julia
Lion Park - feeding giraffes, touching lion cubs, seeing Cheetah
Gold Reef City - rides, fun, wet, crazy cousins on Anaconda and Golden Loop.
Soweto - HUGE!!, amazing, really good experience, we were the only white people.
Australia Zoo - lots of animals, liked seeing Steve Irwin things, fed elephants and kangaroos.
Movieworld - Lauren went on HUGE rollercoaster, got soaked on log flume...
Noosa - fell off surfboard, rescued by lifeguards (not that good really), very scary and expensive for Mellie and Lauren...
Rainbow Beach - Not as pretty as meant to be, wet and raining, cool hostel with free BBQ and Brekkie.
Hervey Bay/Fraser Island - Sandy, awesome hostel, Eli Creek was cool, driving on
Sexy Stinger Suits
Mel and I in our sexy stinger suits in the Whitsundays. the beach, FREE FOOD!, Lake Makenzie and dingoes.
Kroombit - Goat Muster, horse riding, goat rodeo, cracking whips, mechanical bull, awesome people, stupid guy with dislocated shoulder.
Airle Beach/Whitsundays - Tumble dryer, Snorkelling, Whitehaven Beach, place Steve Irwin died, Mel lost her ring :-(
Magnetic Island - Alright, kayaking was hard work, swimming, chilling, quiz with stupid girls, cramped room and flies in kitchen.
Cairns - Clean, pretty city. Wet and raining, but nice hostel. Stopped on the way to hold snakes, birds, crocs and lizards and saw wild Cassowary.
Cape Tribulation - Rainforesty, didgeridoos, crocodiles, cold, wet, waterfalls, flooded bridge, getting back late..
Great Barrier Reef - Amazing, turtles, fish, sharks, jellyfish, giant clams, very, very cool. Very rough seas, and rain, lots of people being sick (but not us!) HA!
Ayers Rock - HOT. lots of flies and sand and more flies. Slept in swags under the stars. Very cold at night, walked around the base, and more flies, and listened to Dreamtime stories from Aboriginal Elder.
Sydney - dirty, more history, crazy drivers, missed Blue Mountains tour, City Sightseeing tour, Bridge Climb (really easy!) Nice meal out to end
Lauren and a crocodile
Holding a baby crocodile at the Johnstone River Croc Farm, thanks to Oz Experience... My stupid eyes are closed, but never mind... travelling round Oz. Darling Harbour and Opera House.
So, we have done a lot of things since we left, and there are plenty more to come... for example...
Travelling round the North and South Islands of New Zealand, Mel's Birthday, hopefully Sky-Diving, seeing Ranee and Billy and Ellen, and lots more experiences to be had, and then we will be at home before we know it!
We have to be up early tomorrow morning, so that is it for now... Check again soon though, because we will be adding more photos.
Goodnight...
