And they wonder why they have a drink drive problem here! Hilarious!
We were told about the Yongala shipwreck by quite a few people who said we MUST dive it as it is supposed to be one of the top 10 dive sites in the world. We got to Ayr (quite possibly the most boring town on the planet) and manged to get booked in with a small company for the next day. Some lads returned to the place where we were staying informing us that the dive was incredible but unfortunately on the journey out there absolutely everyone was sea sick as it was just so rough! The next morning we got up and as the weather had deterioted even more the dive was cancelled. We decided to hang around for a further day in the hope it may go the next day - which it did - with clear skies and calm seas - hurray!

The dive site is 28 mteres deep - SS Yongala sank in 1911 and was ironically made by the same company who built the titanic (they now make spanners ha ha). Over 120 people died and so you are not allowed to actually penetrate (ooh er) the wreck itself. The marine life was amazing -

These bats are bloody HUGE - around 18" across. Ive developed a weird fascination for them!
we were swimming with HUGE Maori wrasse - over 1.5 metres long, sea snakes, turtles, jellyfish... Very cool indeed! It was definaltly our best dive so far!

The sun has finally started to shine again - finally we can dry out our damp sheets and matresses (from the rain(!))

xx
