Mon 31. Drove to Cairns. Spruiked Esplanade. Practised my German on the many tourists and German Aussies.
Tue Aug 1. drove up to Atherton Tablelands. Cool. Saw Curtin Fig Tree. Birds and nest with two eggs. Cyclone damage evident. Walked Wongabel State Forrest track. Six species of birds. Spruiked Atherton with great effect. Many Aboriginal Australians got stickers. Met reporter for local paper 'Tablelander'. Set interview for tomorrow. Went to Hallorans Hill for view of farmland and mountains.
