Hello again. This blog isn't going to ramble on loads. Basically since my last blog I've had loads of fun in Cairns, Cape Tribulation and Magnetic Island.
In Cairns we had a traditional Aussie BBQ by the sea and continued to enjoy nights out at the woolshed. We met up with our friends Laura and Emma from home and hung out and caught up with them at the bar. I even entered a Mr Backpacker competition, I was not entirely sure what this was at the start of the contest but it basically was a dancing contest on the tables, everyone seemed to be egging the dancers, including me on to take our clothes off, so there are some very nice pictures circulating the internet and making the Sun's Hot Gossip section of me in my underwear. We also took a quick trip up to the Daintree Rainforest claiming to be the oldest in the world at 250 million years old, however this is disputed by myself, Ross and Rick as Taman Negara in Malaysia was 290 million years old. We stayed for one night here and saw some crocs, some snakes and went swimming in a water hole, it
was good fun. We stayed in Cape Tribulation a small hamlet in the forest and had a great night with Stu and Kate from Birmingham, and the Bristol boys, Luke, Bulby and Dan who were following us from KL! We couldn't shake them off us! We had a right old big group of Brits. We played a few games of cards and generally chilled out.
The next day we had to sort out our Oz Experience to Sydney, after a few frantic phone calls comfirming I had in fact got a place on the bus we were set to leave on Monday for Magnetic Island. Finally everything was all sorted, Gloria an elderly lady working at Carvella's, our hostel, was very helpful in booking all our tours and it seemed the best thing to do was to just let her sort it out. After an hour of signing this and paying alot of money we left with various bits of paper about 30 receipts, not quite sure what we had just paid for! In the morning we assessed everything and worked it all out and everything was in check. This was when I decided to leave my ATM card
in a machine. Oh dear, I wasn't having the best run of luck. After phoning my bank, they said no money had gone missing, but as it was a Saturday I would have to wait until Monday to get my card, which meant I would have to get a later bus down to Magnetic Island and catch up the guys. A few stressful hours later I was calming down and got an early night. The next day I took some time out, fretting over how I was going to get cash, the guys being the good friends they are agreed to support me in cash until I got the situation sorted out. The next day I said goodbye to the guys and went to the bank which opened at 9.30. After some confusion it was established that they didn't have my card. I called my bank and cancelled the card, spoke to Mum and she said she'd post a new card out to Brisbane. I chilled out at the hostel for the day playing cards with Leon and Martyn, Gillian, Sam and Zara. I even won at poker which suggested my luck was turning! 😊
It was at 8pm
I got a phone call from my bank saying they'd had a call from someone in Cairns who had my card. Samara at the hostel, everyone at the hostel now kknew me due to the fact I was always needing help with something, drove me to see a man with my card. He says he found it in the machine with $100 and called the bank to return it. That was really lucky, but the card was cancelled unfortunately.
Anyway after leaving Carvella's and alot of new friends and spending a night on a Greyhound bus I arrived at Magnetic Island, which was a great retreat to escape from the past few days. We saw some Koalas and chilled at the awesome beaches there. We then spent a night in Townsville with Stu and Kate again, these people are just following us, and had a great night, my highlight was singing Blink 182's All the Small Things on Karaoke, always the one to get the party going! We also enjoyed watching Manchester United play Barcelona on the worst TV signal ever in the hostel at 5am, it was light before we got to bed and we had to check
out at 10. Me Rick and Ross ignored this checked out at 10, and then went back in the room for another 3 hours sleep. We caught our bus today at 1.
We're now in Airlie Beach ready for our sailing trip on Sunday.

Great pictures
Hi James. I love the pictures of the Australian wildlife. That spider is huge. And what is that crocodile eating? Also, it's good to see you looking happy and relaxed after the traumas of the last week or so. Take care xx
