We took this picture along the highway at one of our stops along the way to Airlie.
Hey Everybody

Well our trip has continued. A little more than 5 hours of flight time, a new Country and yet still bloody rain. So we have managed to visit New Zealand, during its worst summer in 60 years, and now we have found the Wet season of Queensland. Its wonderful. I have never seen rain come down like this. NZ, Aus, it doesnt just rain, it poors. Monsoons. The rain woke us up at 7 this morning, and we went to go for breaky and there was water pooring down the stairs of our hostel. We are at Beaches Backpackers, and it is the coolest hostel we've been at all this trip. Huge bar downstairs with open mike night and everything.

Besides all the rain, it has been very hot and sticky. In Cairns, we had to carry around 1.5L water bottles everywhere because we were sweating so much. Cairns is a pretty cool little town. Unfortunately, it is Box jellyfish (Stingers) season so we cant go in the water until Brisbane. Or so we've been told anyways. Cairns has a really cool outdoor pool for free right beside the ocean, so its kinda like we're in the

ocean, minus all the killer creatures. Its even salt water. Lotsa really cool little shops in Cairns, which isnt a good thing for our bank accounts. We had to give in and buy rash guards, because our arms and stomachs are pretty much raw from all the boarding we did in Whitianga. We have been assured that once we're in Brisbane, all the boards are free and we will be doing a lot of body surfing.

Yesterday we had a disgustingly long bus ride from Cairns, to Airlie Beach. From 0730 to 2000 on a bus. It wasnt pretty. But atleast there were movies to keep us occupied. Not to mention the Kangaroo spotting. Jord = 2 Roos
Jen = 1 Roo, and a big ass bird. and some rocks camoflauged as Roos. They are quite funny little creatures. I was so excited when we saw them. They kinda remind us of deer. Same, color as deer, and their faces kinda look like deer. Cept for the pouch and boxer stance, i coulda swore they were deer.

So now we are in Airlie Beach. A wicked town, specifically made for Whitsundays trips it would seem. So far Oz seems to be way more lively then NZ was. Not necessarily a good thing when our bank accounts have already suffered largely. To make things worse, all the surf clothes we wear are cheaper than NZ even with the exchange.

We are leaving in 2 hours for a Whitsunday trip. 2 days and 2 nights aboard SS WhiteHaven. Gonna be an experience thats for sure. Hopefully a better experience for Jen than the last boat trip.

Anyways hope everything is going good at home.

Hope the Oilers get their asses in gear soon.
