Town of 1770
So today I woke up in Hervey Bay where I just had a couple of relaxing days that just consisted of skating programming and watching series on my laptop. I woke up quite early again as the heat just wakes me up every morning at around 7. I was debating whether to have another lazy day or a more active day and continue on my way towards Cairns.
After a long think and the Wi-Fi cutting out a bit I decided to just pack up and continue onwards which after the matter was a great idea.
I had planned to go to the town of 1770 which is about a 2/3 hour drive. I headed on to the road and generally had a great time driving, the weather was amazing and I had good music whilst driving on the roads. I enjoyed the views around me which basically were all open plains and mountains in the back ground!
I had planned to go on a forest walk in 1770 (Also known as Seventeen Seventy). Once I arrived in 1770 I took an exit just early and ended up on a parking area. I parked
anyway to see what there was as there were no other cars parked there and low and behold there was a Skate Park. It seemed a lot more beginner friendly then all other parks I’ve been to so I grabbed my board from the car and skated the park for about an hour. There was no one else there so I could just practice without having to worry about others thinking I suck haha. It’s always awkward when there are people doing these amazing tricks and there I am trying to learn to drop in as I’ve never picked up on that as the last time I tried I broke my wrist.
After about an hour 2 parents arrived with their 2 children who brought there scooters. This was there first time at the skate park as well so we we’re all just trying stuff out together at the park. I skated with them for about an hour before sitting down with the parents to have a conversation and cool down a bit as it was 30ish degrees. They were from the area of Brisbane and came up here for their holiday.
After we talked a little
we both headed out of the park and each went our ways I went to the forest walk and parked my camper there. Placed the Go-Pro on my head and went on another adventure through the walk. It was a nice walk. It had wooden planks through the woods and little stepping stones to go through water area. All the time I was watching every step to make sure I did not trod on anything. I scared myself a couple of times but enjoyed the walk very much.
After my walk I drove to the tip of 1770 where there was a couple of lookouts to go and see. I parked the camper there and headed to the first lookout. While I was there I saw a nice beach where nobody was at. I jumped the fence and went to the beach to stay for a while. I enjoyed the sea coming up and down and everything was just so quiet all I heard was animals roaming around.
I went back up to the lookout and walked about a kilometre to another lookout. Here I enjoyed the view but noticed you weren’t even close to the tip
of the cliffs and I had determined I could get a better view. I jumped the fence again I climbed some rocks to get to the top of the cliffs and WOW was the view good there. I enjoyed every second of it took plenty of pictures, looked at the people sitting on the normal lookout and laughed. I loved that area, the weather was great and I was having an amazing time and really enjoyed the climb to see that great view in to the ocean.
I headed back on the path where I saw a huge lizard like creature just walking by, walking on further I heard crazy noises and thought I saw a bird of prey.. turns out it was just a black parrot haha.
I grabbed my car and from there I drove another 100KM to where I am now in some holiday park, tomorrow I’ll be driving again towards Mackay.
