The day may have started with heavy cloud and a sprinkle of rain, but that was the only bad news on an exciting day out. Marg and Rob purchased a Horizon Wattle (Mercedes Sprinter) motorhome built by Ballina Campers and planned to circumnavigate Australia over the following couple of years, collecting it just after Rob retired in May 2011. The couple of years grew out to over 4 years during which time we travelled from Brisbane to Perth return accross the Nullarbor both ways in 2011; in 2012 we travelled various places on the East Coast of Australia. Albert Namatjira's house

Not far from Hermannsburg. Albert, as an aboriginal, wasn't allowed to build a house in Alice Springs, but was granted permission to build on their traditional land.

Lunch break

We shared a table with an English couple who are about to motorhome from Port Douglas to Brisbane. They wanted good ideas/places.

Rocky stuff
Certainly rocky country red and dusty. Some green spots though we imagine there would be much more green about in the wet season.

Sounds like an interesting trip!
Great blog and some of your photos remind me so much of the sandstone we have in the Magaliesburg in South Africa [blog=779703] Quite amazing how some areas in different parts of the world can be so similar, then if you look closely you spot the differences. Looking forward to the rest of your blogs.
