We have been here for one month now and have been literally right in the middle of two major disasters. The floods up in North West Queensland, which we managed to escape from by a matter of weeks and the terrible bush fires in Victoria. Fortunately we have no TV here and have been able to avoid viewing all the sadness on TV. I lost my great aunty May in the fires at King Lake and found that news on the internet first, then from family.
Life goes on for the rest of us and we are happy to be here in this part of Australia right now.
Theres something about this country here, quite spiritual and it draws you in. Hamilton downs is like going back 100yrs in time. The buildings have all been restored to thier original condition from 1909 and the history is awesome. We have alot of interesting groups of people booked in to stay here over the next couple of months.
The girls are settled into Alice Springs SOTA and are attending Braitling Primary School every Wednesday in Alice. I am teaching at the YMCA and babysitting two little vietnamese boys every Monday.

The view from our verandah! have done quite a few trips around Alice and visited Simpsons Gap, Emily Gap, Jessies Gap and Ruby Gap. All passes through the MacDonnell Ranges. Ellery Creek Big Hole was a refreshing end to a hot day of hiking around. A huge fresh water hole surrounded by towering red rock walls.
The trek to Ruby Gap was a great 4x4 trip and a long day, we were pooped when we finally got home.
Next week is an inschool visit for the girls and we spend the week in Alice. Lots of activities are planned so I'm sure we'll have a fun and interesting week.
