So, been here a week now, still feels slightly unreal. Been livin at the same hostel, wandering around and about Sydney, enjoying the warm weather. Partying with the room mates and body surfin at the beaches of Bondi and Manly. Flirtin with the nice Aussie boys and enjoying the gelateria! This really is life! Have a job interview tomorrow and if that works out I might go out to Alice Springs for a week before starting the office hours. To do some desert hikin out to the great red rock!... read more

Hey guys! Sorry it’s been so long since the last update. We just had a fun fun three day weekend. I’m still not quite sure what holiday was yesterday, but it was nice to have MN, Elizabeth & Lyndsey off for a Monday. This weekend was happening in Manly! It was the annual International Jazz Festival going on all weekend, so people were everywhere. Before I get to that though, MN, Elizabeth, Lynds & I had a fun afternoon in Sydney on Friday. I was there all day exploring, since I am currently unemployed. First when I got there, people lined the streets like the queen was about to pass. Everyone was decked out in their red and white Sydney Swans memorabilia. Last weekend, the Sydney Swans won the Aussie Football League for the first time ... read more

October 2nd Arrived in Sydney early evening on what is now Sunday. Long winding shuttle to hostel. Edge of a dodgy area. No beer shops open so had an early night. Monday October 3rd Author for the rest of this blog is Owen. Sydney Harbour Day. It was about 7 when I got up which was too early for breakfast (which started at 7.30) so I had a shower and got dressed. After breakfast which consisted of a bowl of wheatflakes and a slice of toast, we all walked to Mrs Macquaire's chair and goggled at the Sydney Opera house and Harbour Bridge while surrounded by Japanese schoolgirls. Then we went on to Sydney Opera House and walked around the outside of it gaining a better view of the Bridge, on which we saw tourists climbing ... read more

Today we decided to take a ferry from Circular Quay to Manly Wharf as the weather was fantastic. This is a holiday weekend in Australia and we happen to stumble upon the Manly International Jazz Festival. Spending the day on a South Pacific beach listening to great jazz, and oogling the women is a tough way to spend a Saturday. I think Lou is now experiencing all the "hardships" I must put up with when travelling for work.... read more

Sydney has one of the most incredible zoos in the world. It is across the harbour and has a great view as it sits on the side of a large hill. We took the ferry from Circular Quay (where our hotel is) to the zoo. Attached are a few pics of the fun day.... read more

And Now The Truth Can Be Told A mere 71 days to departure and it has come to our attention that a dastardly myth has grown around The Busters. One that needs to be corrected immediately. I'm talking, of course, about the myth that states The Busters were unsuccessful with the ladies on their previous journey. I can state categorically that this is completely untrue! Need I remind you that Joe met his future wife on that trip, Tez met his future wife on a subsequent trip that was inspired by The Big Bust 86, and Frank met his future wife at a trivia game 12 years after that trip but she was only interested in the first place due to his fascinating travel tales relating to Bustin' Out 86. Quite apart from these myth-busting examples ... read more

Hey, we're back already. We thought that since we'd been spending the last five days exploring downtown Sydney, the city merited its own blog entry. The place is fantastic (though a tad expensive). It reminds us so much of Vancouver: clean, nice newer architecture, that "urban feel", and of course, the rain. The weather for the last few days has been a photographer's (Sarah's) nightmare. This morning when we woke up, we looked out the window and saw sunny, blue skies. By the time we'd showered and dressed and got outside, it became extremely windy and then decided to POUR down rain. At least it caught all the Aussies by surprise too, so we didn't look like wet idiots. So we fled back inside the hostel for a few moments, paid our rent, and came outside ... read more
