Where I go swimming when the waves are too scary
Peep: the stairs of doom- 82 stairs (i counted) that take my breath away (literally) Today is 150 days being away from home! Crazy!
Also, I made it 23 years and 6 months without any of my phones ever falling in the toilet!!!! Unfortunately, that streak has gone down the toilet. My phone fell into a public toilet near the beach. However, I took it as a sign that my last two weeks here in Australia i should lose my phone and take in the ocean, scenery, etc.
Also, my last 20 days here I made a point to jump in the ocean every single day. I'm 5/5 days so far!
Jordan left for Sumatra on Friday! Thursday night we had a big going away dinner with his extended family at a bowling club. Every town here has atleast one bowling club. They are like nothing we have in America. The 'bowling' is outside on grass fields. There are a few casinos. And an all you can eat restaurant!!! So much for my Hawaii diet.
We then spent the night at his mom's house in Nelson Bay with his aunt and cousin! Friday morning Jordan finished his packing, we went into Newcastle to get breakfast at Jordan's dad's restaurant
and that's where Jordan and I said our goodbyes. He got on a train and headed to the airport and from there we will meet up in Hawaii! (If all goes as planned......)
Friday night, the beasts and I went to the Newcastle Christmas in the Park event. There was bouncy houses, face paint, ice cream, concerts, and the christmas light up! The kids were bouncing up and down while we were walking up because this was their first bouncy house! And let me tell ya.... Little Beast threw a fit when she had to get off.... We would've stayed for the christmas light show but once 8 o'clock hits the beasts totally shut down. It's like clockwork.
The Big Beast is super cheeky and here is our conversation the other day:
Me: You are so Cheeky I don't know if I could be friends with you.
Big Beast: Do you think we would be friends if you were in my school?
Me: I don't know, do you?
Big Beast: I can't decide
She is super sneaky and always acts so innocent. I bought a Dark chocolate bar the
other day at the store and Big Beast was in my room watching me and I put the bar in my nightstand. I go today to get a piece and it is halfway gone! I'm going to try to play a prank with it and catch her mid action. Anyone have any ideas?!
Another thing I need ideas for..... ideas for my host family as a thank you/going away gift? I'm thinking pictures maybe a photo album but I feel like I could get a little more creative.
HELP
Saturday night, my host dad's coworker was having a big birthday party on his farm about 90 minutes from us. My host dad asked if I wanted to go and I said sure! We were going to bring a tent and camp there. My host dad went out and bought us all sleeping bags, air mattresses, flashlights, and a huge 5 person tent! We set it up in the living room and the girls got super excited to have their first experience in a tent. So, I got the girls bags ready while my host dad packed the car. Rain was in the forecast so we all packed
our raincoats. It actually started down pouring on our way, so we were considering going for the party and maybe staying at the neighbors accommodation instead of camping. We got to the farm and everyone was layering up because it was quite cold, when we realized I FORGOT TO BRING LITTLE BEASTS BAG. No nappies, no clothes, no sweatshirt, no raincoat, no carsick medicine. Nothing. So I guess that sealed the deal we will be heading home that night. At the party, they had a whole pig roasting. Not something I like to see but that didn't keep me away from the food..... Tilly cried for the few two hours of the party "I hate adult parties" up until the glow sticks and ice cream came out.... My host dad lectured her the next day that you can't cry and hold on to his leg the whole party. That stops at age three. After that you have to look them in the eye and say hello. Sounds like a lecture I got a
few times...
We stayed at the party until about 9 when we made the drive home, and when we knew little beast would be fast asleep
and no chance of throw up.
Side note, I've never felt so safe at the party, atleast 75%!o(MISSING)f the attendees were doctors. The other 25%!w(MISSING)ere children under the age of 6.
Another side note, I will ignore anyone who ever tries to tell me how bad energy drinks are for you. My host dad studied medicine for 10 years, is currently a doctor, and has on average 2 red bulls a day.
This country farm house was absolutely amazing. It was clearly pretty old but they did a lot of renovations to make it an
updated old farmhouse. With chickens, and a vegetable farm, lots of acres, and a pool. They host backpackers there that stay for free and they just have to watch their kids or cook or clean for 3-4 hours a day. Sounds awesome- maybe something in my future?! 😉
This week is laying pretty low.... Monday the Big beast's school had 'no work day'. The teachers were on strike for something or other.
and today big beast is home 'sick' from school.... interesting.
I only have two weeks left ! (from yesterday). It's fun because I get all of the au pair drama/gossip from the cleaning lady. She comes every week and we actually have became friends. She tells me all about the past au pairs. She told me I'm the only au pair that actually does stuff with the kids. I'm taking that as a subtle hint I'm the best au pair they've had 😉
That's all I have for you guys! I hope all is well.
Sending all my love
XOXO
