"My second post of the day! I thought I should actually keep you updated on my life currently as well as my 'future plans'.
Last time I wrote it was halloween- before trick or treating. Well, Halloween was a success! My host mom got home that afternoon with enough spiderwebs to cover our house floor to ceiling ~ three times. Both my host parents were home in time for trick or treating but big beast insisted my host mom and I take the two out for the candy. My host dad wasn't too bummed that he got demanded to stay home with a beer. I think my host dad and my real dad would get along great. For real.
Trick or treating was a lot of fun! Yes, I am 23 years old but still knock on the doors. But, Halloween isn't as good here because they don't have Butterfingers or Reese's.
what is this torture!! Also, about 1 in every 10 houses participate in giving out candy. There is a sign outside their house if they are welcoming trick or treaters. In America, it is the exact opposite. There is a sign outside if they
don't want
trick or treaters and about 1 in every 10 houses
don't. Yes, there was some kids walking around the neighborhood but not nearly as many as our neighborhood at home.
Big Beast found a way too fill her whole pumpkin to the top - and we come home to our whole bowl of candy empty- what a coincidence. Little Beast absolutely loved the holiday and sleeps with her bag of candy everynight.
The day after Halloween, Big Beast had her school musical. It was so awesome! It was based on the Australian game show
Spicks and Specks. Where they guess the name of the song while the younger students dance/sing them. It was a lot of Australian songs think: Men at work, the vegemite song,
and The Cadbury chocolate song. Big Beast had so much fun! No need for the nerves!
I don't know if I told you guys but in the first few weeks I got here Jordan and I got a 1200+ three level puzzle that we were super overconfident about. We just finished it this week...... About 4 months later, and it got prettttty competitive (Idk how a puzzle gets competitive but I
think I threw a couple 'bows...sorry Jordan).
I've been working most weekends lately. Last Saturday, the beasts and I went to a farmers market. I love farmers markets so much they have the best food trucks and everyone set up there is just so nice. We brought our lunch and ate it by the live music. I've been trying to find cute matching bracelets for the three of us and this market had a great tent full of them! I included a picture. Big beast is obsessed with hers and makes sure I am wearing mine every morning. She made us all kiss each others. And what do you know.... little beast loses hers 3 hours after we got them. It is somewhere in this house and I am determined to find it.
Eggplant and mango are on my new foods that I couldn't eat before because of texture issues. I now love them.
Little Beast and I were having a conversation the other day and my host dad hears it and interjects "I don't know if you're giving her your mannerisms or if she's giving you hers." I don't know if that's a good
thing to have with a 2 year old but I am taking it as a compliment, i mean she is my 2 year old best friend. I knew it was meant to be when little beast made a huge fart and laughed for 5 minutes straight.
Ugh I have the same humor as a 2 year old. "Who you spend time with is who you become"
I taught Little beast how to count! I don't let her get off the toilet until she counts down from five. Now she will just randomly start to count throughout the day! It is sooo exciting!
Well, hope all is well over there. I officially got my flight from Hawaii directly to Steamboat on the 24th (With a little stopover in SanDiego to see my cousins
When I travel I always notice that I get most homesick when I have my trip home all booked and ready to go. I don't have that long left, so I need to get all my 'lasts' in. Oh, my 'last' schnitzel?
I'll have 4 please. I need a 'winter layer' for when I go back to Colorado, right?!
Also, my host family has their next aupair lined up for early January, so that makes me feel not so guilty about leaving. I'm very happy for them and hope she loves them just as much as I do.
Gotta go make some dinner for my little beasts!! Homemade pizzas yum! (btw they have a lot of ham and cheese pizza here... isn't that a sand which not a pizza?!)
Love Love Love everyone
