20/4/09 Well the day has come , up early to finish last minute cleaning, as real estate is coming at 9am to do an inspection. She arrived with a gift of goodies & wine (can’t wait for happy hour). All fine with house. We had to wait for container to be picked up so said goodbye to neighbours & our home of 10 years, was not sad as many good times were had there & after all home is where the heart is, not bricks & mortar. The van is our home for a while until we settle again. Container truck turned up at 10.45am & loaded it on (goodbye furniture) the neighbours will be glad to see the end of us, tore up a bit of grass. Then it was off to the bank for a few last minute account changes, ring solicitor , shopping , blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!!! Back to the van to have lunch & hook up & of course its raining, but never mind. We are off on our adventure at 1.30 pm, had a good run from Horsley through Sydney using the M7 , no traffic. Although we thought I might have to get
out & push the car & van up Mt Ousley, boy are we a lot heavier than usual. I told Den he had to chuck the new Kayak off the roof of the car (not happy jan). We got to a servo on the expressway near Wyong & called it quits for the night, we were both tired, & it was still raining. Pulled up behind servo in big truck parking lot, pretty noisy but it was quieter after 10.30. We had a chicken salad for tea & girls were very happy just to be with us, they are very good travellers. Went to bed early like 7.30pm.
21/4/09 Up early the next day & on the road jack, still raining on & off we travelled through Kempsey, Grafton, & stopped just south of Ballina about 4pm at a freeby called New Italy No 21 in Camps 4 Book. Den turned on generator for a while & we had Steak & vegies for tea & watched the news. In bed early for me I am so tired I think it’s all catching up with me. Restless night as traffic pretty noisy.
22/4/09 Up early again, Den took the
girls for a walk & there were roo’s everywhere of course they had to bark & act like “Dogs” for a change, didn’t they , just as the lady parked next door was about to take a photo, she didn’t get it. Oh well , off to Tweed Heads today to meet up with Brett & Kara our nephew & his wife, can’t wait to see them, she is even going to have tea ready for us, what a darling. (you might not hear from us for a few days as we have a few happy hours to catch up on) & a few nana naps as well , we are both tired, we are here for a week. Booked into River Retreat Caravan Park , older but clean & they take dogs. Set up camp & time for happy hour, Brett & Kara bought tea over ( it was yummy) & we all enjoyed catching up with them. Brett is nearly finished the skate park , it looks good. Early to bed.
23/4/09 Up early washed & cleaned the van & picked up Kara & visited Brett at the park & went shopping, Left the girls in the
van, they were good. They have had heaps of walks so very tired. B & K came over for drinks & another early night
24/4/09 Slept in ( for a change ) then decided to take the girls to Fingle Beach for a swim, they had a ball. Annie picked up the biggest stick & would not put it down I think she had splinters in her mouth. Kara was laughing at them. Then we had a look at the light house there & the view was great looking back towards Coolangatta. Back to the van for a rest & poor old Jessie could not keep her head up she was so exhausted . Container arrived at Chinchilla in one piece & house settled this avo as well ( we really are homeless now )To Coolangatta Hotel for Tea with B & K, I had a T-bone & Den had Barramundi (Yummo ). Then we were very naughty & had Cold Rock ice cream for sweets ( Kara was good she didn’t have any ) Another early night.
25/4/09 Went kayaking with B & K and decided on Fingle area as out of the wind, we stumbled on
this neat area that we had to go into by 4 W drive, it was a lagoon & a great spot, Den & Brett went fishing & Kara & I relaxed on the sand by the water. We could see the fish jumping , but you guessed it , they weren’t jumping onto the boy’s lines ( have to buy tea again ) We had a BBQ lunch & had to tie the girls to the bull bar as they would not stop chasing & barking at the seagulls ( naughty girls ) They had been so good up until now. We packed up & had tea with B & K , everyone pooped , too much fresh air & not used to relaxing.
26/4/09 Decided to go to Currumbin Rock Pools today. with B & K and give the girls a chance to redeem themselves as well, 30 deg today so pretty hot. We got prawns, buns, beer & wine ( cant get more perfect than that , EH!!!! ) The Rock Pools are a real jem , but the water is cold, the boys & A & J braved it but K & I relaxed on the
bank. We had a delightful day & the girls were much better, we were all pooped & went back to our vans for a rest & Den watched the footy.
