We arrived in Mossman and the caravan park was very nice, not too crowded together and with clean laundry and toilet facilities which was very important as we were staying for three weeks. We got all of our chores up to date before Marilyn and Trevors visitors arrived. One of the first things we did was to visit the adjacent sugar mill and take a very educational tour.It was very very interesting and some of the machinery had been working since the 1800s and is still going strongIt was good to note that there is not one thing wasted after all the processing. Most of the waste products are put back onto the ground or turned into fertilizer and even the water used in the process is pumped back into the river cleaner than when it was taken out.About ... read more

Well we finally said goodbye to Darwin and the humidity which was a bit hard to take and made our way down to Katherine which of course is famous for its gorges and the Katherine River. It is also a stopping or starting place for the famous Ghan train and we were lucky enough to see it getting ready to depart for Adelaide on one of the days we were there. It was very impressive with an enormous amount of carriages.Of course we all decided there and then that we may have to consider a trip on her before we get too old.So that is something else to add to the bucket list.we stayed at the Riverview caravan Park which was very nice just outside of town and very near the other great attraction ,the hot springs.Of course ... read more

Well it was with great reluctance that we left Broome as it was so easy to enjoy the beautiful beach for a swim every day and the dogs thought it was lovely but we had to push on.We had a couple of nights off road which we are becoming quite efficient at and we then arrived in Kununurra. We had booked in at a lovely caravan park on the lily lagoon but after having to wait until the following morning to get on to a powered site and then a possible sighting of a snake swimming in the lake we decided to swap to the local showgrounds who have made good use of their enormous grounds for people to stay with their caravans.Especially good for big rigs.We were really happy as they said that the dogs could ... read more

Well we finally started our big trip on Sunday the 17th of May and our first stop was at Gin Gin where we found a lovely parking area next to a park with lots of trees and black cockatoos in the trees. We thought that this was so lovely until we got up the next morning to find that the birds had all roosted in the trees above the car.I don't think I have to elaborate on that one.Had an early start and got through Geraldton where we pulled off at a place called Oakabella Homestead. It was only parking in a paddock on this historic buildings grounds but we were a long way off the road and the only people there so the dogs were able to run free which they really enjoyed. Our next night was also ... read more
