Tathra - parts were devastated by a bushfire in early 2018. What a superb spot and well worth more than a day's trip. Suggest a week of relaxation.... read more

Camped in Mimosa Rocks national park for the previous two days, and it was simply lovely. I hadn't visited the park on my way down the coast, but a friend I met along the way insisted it was a must visit spot. While I certainly wasn't up for the snorkeling or fishing at my age that was being enjoyed by some other campers, I did very much enjoy the walking track, and the whale watching lookout at the top of the headland (no whales at this time of year unfortunately, will have to head back another time to catch them!). Moon bay has also got to be one of my favorite beach stops so far, so quiet and picturesque. The headland itself is supposed to resemble a castle, though I personally didn't see it. I parked ... read more

House cleaning day - got it mostly done, fresh corn from the local plantation - yum. Walked the bush track and last dog beach walk - Tura beach - dogs just love it. Fish and chips for dinner, washing all done and ready to head to Nowra tomorrow... read more

With the 4x4 booked in for the check on the LPG injection system at Bega, we arrived early into Bega to have the Nissan checked out. We spent half a day wandering around the town and purchasing what we considered bargains, and checking in on the net because at the park we are checked into is in a non-communication area via either phone or internet. A cup of coffee and catch up on emails, then back to pick up the Nissan and head back to the park, we tried our hand at fishing off the old wharf, fun but no luck for us, but ok for the more experienced and locals that have the correct gear. We have booked the van in for the brakes to be checked by the mechanics tomorrow, so we will know ... read more

Drove to Tathra and found a good spacious park with very reasonable rates. We had to stop on the road in because a large Gohanna chose to cross as we drove in, we continued on and viewed kangaroos as we found a site. Large sites and comfortable park, we set up and decided to head into Bega for a look around, we have the 4x4 booked in to have the LPG injection system checked ( it had decided to work in the last stretch along the road). A 20 min drive into Bega through wonderful green farming country, and a drive around the town, with a visit to the supermarket to pick up some groceries. We drove to the historic wharf and observed people catching fresh bait and also catching fish. Gee we really have to ... read more
