So nothing of note happened in Sydney (thankfully) and I was up early the following morning to catch the plane to Santiago. It was one of those long flights that take 4 hours to get to Auckland and then stops for 2 hours for us to all get out, walk around and get back on. Followed by 11 hours going to Santiago. All I can say is OUCH. Big flight. Result is a very tired girl. I was very happy when I got my boarding pass. 12C Aisle seat. Right behind business class so that means extra leg room. I get on and there is some woman sitting in my seat. She'd been assigned at 12E (NOT and aisle seat) and her husband had been assigned 12A... since they had a new born they really wanted to sit together. So fine... I'll take the other seat since at least it still had the extra leg room.... until the couple on the other side put up their baby basinette and I had to do some yoga to get out of the seat. Oh well. economy. What can be expected?
In all it was a good flight. The food was great and
the in flight entertainment was excellent. I highly recommend LAN to anyone travelling to South America! We did have a small delay of 1 hour in Auckland when we were going to leave because there was a slight "love-tap" with the tow-truck or some such and they needed to inspect to make sure all was ok. But it was all fine and we got to Santiago with plenty of time for my connecting flight to Santiago.
Odd thing in Santiago... the only place where the gate for my flight was listed was on LAN's little board where they go and manually change the details. The big screens had the flight and but didn't have the gate and the gate didn't have anything above it. But eveyone else in the line had the same flight number and my ticket worked so on I went. Buenos Aires here I come.
I've also discovered that there is a huge benefit to being an Aussie going into Argentina. Since I needed to pay for my tourist visa we had a little line just for us. Me and the other two Aussies (line was also for US and Candian citizens) whilst the rest
of the plane had to line up all together. Yay for being Aussie! My bag was on the carousel. No worries and my driver was waiting for me! That was an interesting car ride. But everything looked so familiar. Except for Spanish instead of French signs everywhere I could have been in New Caledonia. And the drivers here are crazy.
The drive wasn't as long as I was expecting but the hotel exceeded my expectations. Such a nice little room. I even have a bidet and my own priavate balcony and stairs up to the rooftop pool. The views were nice and I've even got free wi-fi (hence the blog updates). I got a great night's sleep, crashing out at about 9pm local time and waking up at about 7. I'm hoping I've adjusted pretty much to the time zone now... breakfast was good at a local cafe around the corner... and now I'm off to catch another plane. To Ushuaia where the temperature is currently 8 degC to begin the first tour! Lots of hiking and some camping and living on a boat.
And lots of freezing my but off! Here I come!

All good darl - pretty cool motel set-up in BA! I'll print off your entries, that way Pa & Avi (and Jodee if she has no access) stay up to date and then you can have the printed version when you get home. You may not have much opportunity / access to up date in the next coupla weeks, I'm guessing, but I'll keep checking . . . Luv ya.
