Edit Blog Post
So I thought it was time for an update. Last blog I wrote about Christmas and New Year so I have a month and a half to cover here.
Robyn, who I met in Singapore, flew to Sydney in the New Year and we viewed some places to live that I had found. We decided to go with the nicest one we saw and moved in some days later. It is in Sussex Street right in the middle of the city, as central as you can be! Our flat has views of Darling Harbour and the city including the QVB and the cinema. If only I had X-ray vision I could see all the films through the walls of the cinema! The flat is really nice, it was great to be able to unpack and have somewhere just to lounge round. There are six of us altogether, 4 Irish and Robyn and I. The Irish moved out a couple of weeks ago and 4 French people moved in.
We started looking for jobs, this proved rather difficult. Robyn had a few trials and had a job for a week but the job wasn't good! After 3 weeks of searching I had
a trial at a sandwich place but I didn't get the job, I don't think she believed I had made sandwiches before. I know I can make good sandwiches! A few days later however I got a call from the agency I had joined offering me some work. I joined this agency a couple of weeks ago. In fact tried to join several, but it's not easy, you have to phone them all the time, trying to register etc! So two weeks ago I started a job working for a pathology firm in the accounts department doing admin. It is about a 40 minute bus ride way and is over the bridge so everyday I get to go over the bridge, see the opera house etc.
Apart from job hunting and recently working we've just been taking advantage of what Sydney has to offer. We normally go to the cinema every Tuesday as it is cheaper then. So that coupled with the DVDs I rent each week (on bargain Thursday of course!) means I have seen rather a lot of films recently! One weekend we went to Manly with Suzie and Amy on the ferry and had a nice
day on the beach, finding out however when we got home, that the beach we went on wasn't 'the' Manly beach, oops! Oh well.
Sydney festival was on in January with loads of concerts, peformances and events on. The opening night was free so we headed down, along with thousands of others to Hyde park (very short walk from us) where we saw Santogold! Then we saw the jugonaughts. Basically it was a boat made out of piping etc which doubled as instruments which they played. They was a lot of fire involved too, it was really good!
Hyde Park is a good place just to go and sunbathe or read a book or the botanical gardens. It is good living in the city, everything is so close! Also there is always something going on. It was Chinese New Year recently and there was an event in the park and then a huge Twilight parade the other day. Amy and I came out of the cinema (from seeing Twilight for the umteenth time) and there it was right it front of us! I've decided I want to be a Chinese dragon, I love the way they shake their heads!

Day was on the 26th January so again there were loads of events. Robyn, Caroline and I walked through Hyde Park and through a vintage car show there, it was really good, so many cars and these cute little caravans from the 50's/60's, I want one! Then we headed over to the Rocks to listen to the music there but unfortunately it started raining so we didn't stay long. Watched the fireworks in Darling Harbour from our balcony that night, they were spectacular!
I did the Blue Mountains trip again. The first time it got rained off half-way through so they said we could do it again. When we got there it was nearly as bad as last time, but the view cleared up. We also went on the very steep railway, we went up backwards, it was good but lets just say I am glad we didn't go down on it because a) my stomach would not have liked it and b)it would have meant walking up 1000 steps to get back to the top!
This week we've had pretty awful weather, been raining all week! Ok, so that would be considered good back at home at
Piano in Chinatown.
Part of Sydney festival. the moment, but it's not here! I must admit though, it is nice being able to wrap up, though I wish I had some trainers! I think mine got thrown out when the Irish left, oops!
But previous to that we had been having some pretty hot weather, getting up to 40 degrees some days, it was like walking in an oven! Everyone's seen about the bush fires, I didn't realise at first how bad it was. Most of them are down in Victoria (i'm in NSW).
That's it for now, i've put a few pictures up but looks on facebook as I have them all up there. Hope your all enjoying your freezing temperatures back in England, send us some snow! xx

Oh Amy Amy Hynd! I'm ever so jealous that you get to play and go mental in the city! I want to get Canada sorted out even more now. Glad you are okay and seem to be having lots of fun :) Much love, many hugs xx
