Sydney, Australia - January 18th - 8:00pm
I woke up at 8:45am and decided to lay there a little longer as I was pretty tired from last night. The next thing I knew was Jean knocking at my door to wake me up. I guess I was more tired then I thought. I jumped out of bed and in the shower. I got ready and luckily Jean had a few more things to do to get ready so she wasn’t waiting for me. We jumped in the car as I downed some water, feeling a little sluggish this morning after the wine from last night! Oopps!
We pulled the old GPS out and headed into the city. We were going to a Presidents Picnic for the MX5 club at a public park but within a Navy base. So after a few wrong turns we met up with other MX5s and followed our way to the Wharf. We had to wait for the whole group as we had to enter into the Navy Base property to get to the picnic site. We all got in safe and sound and played follow the leader to the wharf. Jean informed me that there
was a security guard that was a Nazi parking guy. Sure enough he was a Nazi. You had to listen to him or he was going to get angry, but it turned out for the better as we all parked safely. There was about 40 MX5s there of all different colours. My favourite one was the car that looked black but in the sun it looked brownish. It was a very neat colour.
We made our way up the picnic site and enjoyed mingling and getting to know some of Jean’s friends. We then enjoyed a lovely lunch with chicken and salads and prawns. I was a little disturbed by the prawns as the heads were still attached so it was interesting to see a head with little beady eyes looking up at you on your plate. Let’s just say I was glad I only got one. I had a good time as Paul ended up showing up with his youngest son. Paul is the gentlemen that drove Lee and I around when we got here and invited us into his house for a Aussie barbie.
I decided to walk around and take some pictures as I was
told the views from the building were fantastic. So Sean decided to come along for a walk which was nice company. We headed up to the building and the views really were spectacular. I had a great view of the harbour bridge, Sydney Opera House and the Cruise Ship that was docked at Circular Quay (unfortunately it wasn’t Lee’s ship)…tear. I’d love to bring Lee there so he can get some great pictures. We then walked down the wharf and got some lovely pictures of the harbour with all the sailboats, ferries and speed boats. The weather was great as well which was spectacular.
Jean ended up finding me and informing me she was getting ready to leave which I was happy with as I was so knackered. We got home an hour later and Jean crashed on the couch and I jumped on the computer before laying down.
Unforuntaely when I checked my email I had a email from my best friend Pam. She had informed me that her Aunt who’s been like an Aunt to me over to years is in the hospital with a serious Strep infection. I just seems like January isn’t a good
month for me anymore. I’m sorry I can’t be there with you Pam and Kathy but I’m thinking about you. I miss you both and love you lots. I love you Aunt Frannie.
Needless to say it’s been a tough night for me.
I tried to lay down for a bit as I was extremely upset. I got a few minutes of shut eye but it was too hot and I wasn’t able to shut my brain off. I got up and fired off some more emails.
Jean wasn’t up to cooking anything so we ordered a pizza and had an easy dinner. Lee ended up calling me which is something that I needed. He always seems to say the right things when I need him the most. Thanks for being there for me Lee. You mean the world to me!
I’m just going to relax for the night and try to get some sleep tonight after the horrible news I have received.
