God this thing gets so hot! They even make you use an oxford falls backpack!Well today was my first day at school. The vacation is over. 😞 I still went surfing today though. It was an early session at Avalon. Richard and I woke up at 6:00 and paddled out. School starts at 9:00. We had a basic orientation as year 11s where the teachers told us the rules and all that fun stuff. The school is about the same size as mendo. Maybe even smaller. It is a k-12 school so there are heaps of smaller kids. Their classes are much larger than the years 11 or 12. The schedule is very confusing. It changes every week. Every Friday we have chapel. That will be interesting. I've never actually been to church and I've never read a single word out of a bible. Chapel will be a new experience for me. My first class was extension math which is the highest math I can take. I'm not sure how I got into that one. It sounds difficult and we already were assigned several lessons as homework! My next class was Design Technology. i didn't really like that one. it's sort of like wood shop but more intense. Not my kind of thing. After DT
I had lunch and then headed off to ancient history. Ancient history seems like it's gonna be a good class. I really like the teacher. There was a huge, gnarly spider on the window and the teacher was flipping out. It was quite funny. One kid finally succeeded in knocking it out the window but it soon climbed back in. I only had 3 classes today so after ancient history I finally got to go home. By the end I thought I would die of heat stroke. Once back at the house Elise and I made chocolate espresso bars. They were good.
I just got back from surfing north Avalon. We pulled up and a kid came in with a big welt on his back. He told us "There are heaps of bluies (Blue bottle jellies) out there." So we put on our rashies (rash guards) and paddled out anyway. It was fun out. There were some clean lefts coming through. Now I'm doing homework and I'm very tired.
