Gone fishing
A nice australian salmon...ate it for dinner the next day Hello everybody...
The last while here has been great!
Three of us have full time jobs, (Tom, Dan, Me) Tom is working at the competitor cafe right across the lawn from the one i am working at at the university. Dan is still at his maintenance job which is actually sounding really cool. He gets a lot of resposibility and is pretty much in charge of all the maintenance at this advertising company. The coffee cart i have been working at is pretty good, nothing to exciting, but it pays the bills. We are super busy we make over 1500 coffees a day and work from 7 am to 5:30 pm. The hours are long, but this job is good so i can save up for our future travels around australia etc.
So there has been this ongoing joke between the four of us about who is going to be the first one to the hospital. We pretty much knew it was going to happen sometime this year, at least one of the four of us would need a hospital at one point....anyways Neil wins the prize. Its nothing serious, he stretched a muscle in his foot. He
Sting ray
This is the bottom side of the sting ray waited a day before he went in, but it was really hurting for him to walk, so he thought he should get it checked out, there isn't a lot that can be done about it, he just has to wait untill it heals. Neil still hasn't found a job.
For the last 2 weeks we have had a guy named Lewis living at our place in our spare bedroom. He is here from california and studying to be a doctor at the university. We met him at our connect group. Everybody at this church is involved with a connect group during the week. Our friend Glen is our connect group leader and its about 10 guys that get together every week to hang out and talk about stuff. We usually have it at our place. Anyways he came to our connect group a while back and mentioned that he was staying at the uni but didn't wan't to stay there much longer because they totally rip you off there. We said that he was welcome at our place if untill he found a new place. However, i think that he wants to stay here and rent this room from
Thomas the tank engine
Tom again saves the day, neils foot was getting sore. us. In our contract it says that were only supposed to have 4 people here, but i think we could get that adjusted no problem. So the guys and i are thinking about it and will probably have decided by this weekend.
So the last few weeks have been a little routine with our new jobs and everything, and we realized that that is exactly what we don't want. We didnt come here just get into a typical life routine. However we still do have to work full time, obviously so we can pay the bills. So we decided that we are going to do something touristy every weekend and always make sure we have weekend day trips planned or full weekend trips planned. So during every week we can look forward to our week night events like church and having people over, but we also can look forward to the awesome weekend that were going to have.
Two weekends ago we spent the day playing tennis, with some new friends at church, went the the beach and then went over to one of their houses for a bbq. It was pretty fun. Last weekend took a day
Us and whitey
Waiting to go home at the manley ferry trip to manly beach in north sydney. It was pretty cool. The ferry ride there and back was probably the best part. We thought manly itself was a little overrated, its a beach, just like the one outside our front door. But once we were there we meet up with some people from church and went out for a nice dinner and then took the ferry back at night. The harbor in sydney is huge, so it was cool to see all of it from the water. This weekend were going to the blue mountains. There on the outskirts of sydney and aparently they are pretty cool. Our friend whitey (its his nicname) is going to take us there. Should be a good weekend.
Oh...and almost forgot...went fishing last week with one of my mates from work. He is pretty into fishing and talks about it a lot and asked if i would want to go with him some time. So we went last thursday. We just went to one of the local beaches and fished off the rocks. It was pretty fun. We used small fish as bait. I put my line in and literally 2 minutes later
Downtown Sydney
Nice pic of the operah house with downtown sydney in the backdrop reeled in a fair sized australian salmon. Tim, my mate, said that was the fastest he has hever seen it all happen. I also cought a sting ray, which was pretty cool. Its the same thing that killed steve irwin, they say that the more beige they are in color the more poisonous they are. Tim said that mine was pretty beige compared to the ones he has seen. We reeled it all the way in and looked at it from the end of the rod. We didnt want to touch it, you can kill them, but i think its pretty risky, so we cut the line and let it back in with a free hook in his mouth.
anyways, thats what has been going on here in Sydney, Australia.
bye for now
