Palm Beach
(Home and Away Surf Club!) Hi everyone, again another apology as it has been so long since either of us have written an entry.
I (Vic) am still in Sydney and loving it. I never imagined I would enjoy it so much here, to be honest I thought of it as somewhere we just had to pass through to get to South America. I feel really at home here (don't panic Mum) and have made loads of friends already. I'm working full time as a recruitment consultant for Adecco in the city and having loads of fun. I'm currently working employing loads of postmen/women for Australia Post which means I get to meet a lot interesting (!) people and it v good for my local geography.
I'm living with my lovely Autralian housemate Mandy in Crows Nest on the north shore which means I've got the best of both worlds - just a few stops across the Harbour Bridge to the city but I have lovely parks and village shops at the end of the street. Had a very relaxed weekend so far - just wandering in the city today and will be off to Darling Harbour to visit the Great Wall of China exhibition
(seems like a lifetime ago now!).
I'm still seeing a lot of Allan and Claire. We've been camping again recently, just up the road at Narrabean which was a challenge as when we got there we realised we had brought the wrong poles for my little tent. Improvisation saved the day and I managed to remain firmly on the ground even with the strong breeze picking up in the middle of the night. To his credit Allan did offer to give up his place in the camper van with Claire but I couldn't deprive him of the cosy bed. Plus I could see the stars out of the top of my tent which was a really beautiful way to fall asleep.
I went to the Blue Mountains a couple of weekends ago with Chris. Being back in backpacker mode in the YHA hostel for a weekend was really refreshing after being submerged in city life for a while now. The mountains were beautiful and indeed BLUE! We managed to get out to the cable cars really early in the morning when there was a distinct lack of tourists which added to the impact of the place. The weather
was absolutely perfect and the views are enough to take your breath away. We did a couple of the shorter walks around to the Three Sisters and Echo Point, passing several wedding parties along the way. We couldn't be any more adventurous because guess who forgot to take her walking boots? Who goes to the Blue Mountains in flipflops? Well done Vic. The town of Katoomba itself is weird. Like a typical rundown seaside town at home, noone really wants to be there and they wouldn't be if it wasn't for the proximity of the national park.
Other than that I have been pretty much socialising with people from work and Claire and Allan and their friends. Even managed to get myself invited on a Hen Night last weekend which was up there with the best!
Oh my god I nearly forgot.....I went to the Metro to see The Streets with Chris, Ryan and Emma (work) and would you believe it, myself and Emma managed to get ourselves up on stage dancing with Kano and Mike Skinner himself during the encore and then were invited back stage!!! All very surreal when you ask somone where the bar is
and Mike just turns around and says "help yourself, the beers in the fridge". Who? Me? Star struck? Never! Just couldn't quite bring myself to ask him for the cheesy photo, it was a very small dressing room and it just wouldn't have been the done thing! You'll all just have to believe me! Got some good stage shots though. Would have had a video of me dancing on stage too if someone (ahem, Chris) hadn't got their whole life-in-a-bag stolen from a club in Kings Cross! Oh well probably best not to inflict that on the world anyway 😊
So that's it pretty much. the weather is a bit poo right now so the tan isn't great but fingers crossed for getting to the beach after work next week! Going to Mardi Gras and Melbourne in a couple of weeks to meet some friends for St Patrick's Day. Yey!
Hope you are all well. Fill me in on any exciting goings-onLots of love to you all and I will write again soon(ish)!!!
