Spangly!
Happy Australia day! Well It started off as any other normal day in the land of Oz! Went down to the local fish market to eat a bowl of fresh fruit with a fruity yoghurt topping, and sat looking out over the harbour, trying to figure out how it can be so bloody hot at 8 in the morning!! then off into town to hand out some resume's (trying not to look desperate...give us a job! we're really good honest!) and then the sun got the better of us and we had to go sunbathe on the roof of our hostel with a couple of toohey's, (local beer...Mmmm)! some fresh fish for a light lunch (yeah, might have been a tuna sandwich but hey, were budgeting here!) then back to the room for a siesta! Thank God for air conditioning! luckily we woke up in time to get down to darling Harbour to join in the festivities for the tail end of "Australia day" the one day of the year all of australia gets together to celebrate being great! (you'd never get this in England!) the day itself represents the day the first settlers landed on this sacred land. "Australia day" or "invasion day"
Sydney fish market
a little cloudy this morn, but this is the harbour we've been eating breakfast at! as the Aboriginals call it, also signifying the slow but systematic genocide of the Aboriginal people. But hey! lets not dwell on the down side! the general atmosphere was one of unity and a diversity of cultures all coming together to celebrate some sort of promised land! and my god did they come!! 150,000 piled into the harbour for what we can only describe as the finest fireworks display you could ever imagine!! And they did it to ACDC!! THUNDERSTRUCK, (made lloyd very happy)!!
