Australia is by far one of the most exotic destinations that many people from around the globe choose to see. From seeing the Great Barrier Reef to many adventures in the actual bush and visiting all the seaside Victorian towns, it really has a lot to offer. However, not even one trip to Australia would be complete without visiting Sydney, one of the most magnificent cities in the world. And apart from all the things that any grand city has to offer such as killer clubs, great shopping malls and monuments, Sydney is very popular because of all the waterfront experiences that you simply have to indulge in. Take a look at the top three waterfront experiences to have in mind while visiting the Down Under.
1. Have lunch at a waterfront restaurant
One of the perks of Sydney is that it has some of the best waterfront locations in the world, and having lunch at one of them should be your main priority while in this spectacular city. Not only will you be eating the best dishes from Australia, you will also be enjoying the magnificent view – and you definitely won’t regret it. It can be
a harbor, a marina or a beach; Sydney is the home of many both exclusive and hipster
waterfront restaurants. If you want the best of the best, then your choice should definitely be Ripples, which is located at Milsons Point. This restaurant in this fantastic suburban area of Sydney offers a great variety of dishes and a spectacular view that you should definitely plan on seeing during the sunset with a glass of wine in your hand.
If you’re already at Milsons Point but you yearn for some Italian cuisine a la Australian, then your destination should be another great restaurant called Aqua Dining. However, if you’re for something closer to the center of Sydney, you should definitely check out the Woolloomooloo Wharf, which is the home to one of the favorite waterfront restaurants – the OTTO Ristorante. You’ll definitely love it.
2. Book a cruise through Sydney Harbour
If you’re looking for the best way to experience Sydney in its truest form, then your choice should be immersing yourself on a cruise through the spectacular sights that Sydney Harbour has to offer. However, there might be a problem – you will be left
with so many choices and you’ll have to make the most difficult decision of your life – which cruise to book? If you’re in Sydney in November, then the best choice is waiting for you, so your next step should be to book the
Melbourne Cup cruise on the Sydney Harbour. If you cannot attend the actual Melbourne Cup, this is an excellent option, as you will kill two birds with one beautiful stone. This cruise offers a fully stocked bar, delicious buffet, breathtaking views and a large screen for watching the actual horse race. Is there a better way to experience a cruise through Sydney Harbour and watch the Melbourne Cup?
However, if you’re planning your Sydney experience some other time during the year, you should either go with the Captain Cook dinner cruise which is amazing for any Aussie sunset, or if you have more time, the Matilda Cruises. These offer the view of seven different stops around the Harbour, including the Darling Harbour, Taronga Zoo and the Luna Park. Choose any of these and it’s going to be the experience of a lifetime.
3. Stay at a waterfront hotel
The last, but definitely not the least, waterfront experience would be booking one of the
many waterfront hotels that are available. If you hurry up and book one on time, you will be able to catch a room with a view of the Sydney Opera House or other amazing sights – and this is definitely something you should do if you want the best Australian experience, at least for one night. If you want a luxurious stay, you should go with the sleek and minimalist Park Hyatt Sydney that probably has the best waterfront position. Their rooms offer ceiling-to-floor glass windows, so you won’t miss an inch of Sydney’s waterfront.
However, if you’re for a hotel that’s built right over the water, Pier One Sydney Harbour should be your choice. Enjoy the soaring ceilings on the third floor, the amazing and airy Gantry Restaurant and Bar that opens onto the harbor. It’s also dog-friendly, so feel free to bring your furry little friend.
Your Sydney experience wouldn’t be the same without at least one of these tips. If you’re already visiting Australia and want to see the best of it, choose the waterfront, as other cities cannot offer this type of experience.
