Harbour Bridge
You cant spit or fish off it. Well after enduring what could only be described as a torturous winter in the UK, I am finally back on the home ground for a quick fire holiday and summer session!!! happy days. And further to my hugely popular program " Educating Poms in Drinking and How to BBQ" I brought my lovely lady home with me for a taste of the laid back sydney life.....
The last 6 months or so have been spent working my buttocks off as a travel agent...yes you heard right...working, for the first time in 3 years , reality has set back in and i've pulled out the finger and got stuck into some hard labour. But really the job is a dream and i've always wanted to be involved in travel and now that I am, I couldnt be happier. My job involves sharing stories about travel to people that actually want to hear them, unlike you lot who are forced to through subscription.
As we landed in Sydney, I couldnt believe how awesome this place actually is, you really need to travel and see other parts of the world to really apprieciate how great Aus actually is.
All this
Me and the Old Fella
what is this thing flashing at me soppyness was quickly forgotten though, when we were called over the loudspeaker on the plane to report immediately to the ground staff. We asked the flight attendant what was wrong, and she smiled back " oh its probably nothing, they probably just lost your bags or something like that, nothing major" This was fantastic news as I smelled like I had just tunnelled through a sewage pipe, and em, bless her wasnt doing much better. Still having not learned the lesson to pack a spare set of clothes whenever you travel in your carry on bags ( see the panama and costa rica blog ), I needed to suck it up and battle on wearing the same clothes I had been in for the past 21 hours....gold.
Our bags were lost, and we did get them back at 1am the next morning, after my dad having sunk a few cans abused some poor lady at Qantas for hours on end, and blamed the loss of our bags as the reason why Qantas is being sold off...the sole reason.
The first few days were spent catching up on all the australiana that I have been missing out
Me and
Me and the Lady
Dont scrub up to bad us battlers the Lady
Dont scrub up to bad us battlerson the past 3 years, which meant basically sitting down with the old man and drinking beers and watching footy. The first weekend we were there I treated em to a day out at the rugby league to watch the mighty sea eagles take on the tigers, and she was quickly reminded of home when it poured down rain for the entire game.
After the weekend, we did the tourist thing, went round the opera house, took the ferry over to the city, walked through the botanical gardens, which em got tierd about half way through which ruined my sydney tour for the day!!
It didnt take long at all to get down to my local pub, The Manly Skiff Club, for a few beers with my mates and of course a go at the poker machines there, which have been the bain of my existance ever since i was about 12 and lost my first 20 bucks!! Bugger. It didnt take long for emma to become a poker machine fiend, and she was slapping those buttons with style, but couldnt keep up with the biggest pokies rager there is,

The best location for an afternoon beer this side of belize me. After being ruined once again by the Manly Skiff Club,
The best location for an afternoon beer this side of belizepokies many nights were had having a bbq, off my dads deck and showing em what real bbq's looked like, poor girl spent all her life thinking a bbq is a foil tray with coals and petrol!!!
We got pretty well settled in and enjoying going to the beach everyday, something I havent done since leaving brazil in Feb 2006!! Timmy is still the same man, loving the life and sinking cans on a daily basis just like his brother showed him.
One of the main reasons to return home was to see my mighty mother get married to her long time lover Brucester the rooster. And what a better place to have the sacred ceremony than the world famous Brookvale Yum Cha, Chinese, all night bar, and massage palour ( after 1am). The night was an absolute sensation, and fun was had by all, but no more than when me and timmy finally got to give mum away!!
Anyway, a great time was had by all, and I cant say how good it was to

Im not a tourist...really, its my hometown!! be home. Im back in the UK now, 3 weeks late and lucky to have a job, after my visa took
