Well, where will I start, probably at 7.30am when we left on Friday 11/02/11! unfortunatley I had a client to see at Booral which is near stroud on The Bucketts Way, so The Moth dropped me off and he was to head for a game of golf, but he decided to drop The Ark at the van park and explore the surrounding areas and come and collect me at 2pm-well I had hoped the usual finish time with this client, but not this time, a few issues but was out of there at 4pm, always the way when you are heading off somewhere. Because The Ark is so old it can't be put up by one person, 2 can do it but if any one offers to help we don't say no! So we arrive at Hawks Nest at 5pm, at least The Moth had levelled it and it was only an hour and we were off having a look at the Beach. Neither of us had been to Hawks Nest before and the Central Coast has ocean to the horizon, so to see the islands in the water was quite strange and so close to the land, quite beautiful really
as I've never really been a beach person and find the bush and land so much more relaxing. Because we got there later than we had hoped wew opted for a pizza-no Eagle Boys or Pizza Hut here or KFC or macca's for that matter! Pizza was absolutely beautiful but very small and very expensive!
Had an early night reading and looking out the window at the stars in the sky, thinking what a beautiful day Saturday would be.
So much for a great day, overcast & unfortunatley our friends had text us overnight letting us know they were unable to make it. :-( As we had not shopped we wandered down to the shops and got some bacon and eggs for breakfast, bread and some meat and salad stuff for lunch and dinner. The Moth stuffed breakfast-how do you stuff bacon and eggs you may ask-I ask myself the same question but he did! OK not his fault we use the camp burner with the disposable cans of gas, we got a faulty can 1 1/2 hours to cook breakfast and then it ended up like leather and rubber! So, what to do now that it is
lunch time, a read and a nanna nap sounds good as there is now a slight drizzle, just fab laying in The Ark with the rain, and not feeling guilty about doing nothing!
Headed to the local pub at Tea Gardens for an afternoon drink and a flutter on the horses-we would have been $50 richer if The Moth had filled the quinella form out correctly, he left it till the last minute and rushed, and hence didn't fill it in correctly. Now for the most important purchase of the trip-the Bubbles...I love my bubbles!
Dinner was better, changed the gas can and enjoyed the lamb chops... much better then leather and rubber.I just love this camping, no TV, no distractions just nature, music and books and our games, I have a surprise for anyone who comes on our next trip in March....watch this space, you will be amazed or shocked?!
Sunday morning brings rain...again when we have to pack to leave with wet canvas. I think The Moth has had enough of the wet when we camp, he just doesn't cope with it well the poor pet.
We really had no catastrophes this time which
means we must being sorting out the bugs in The Ark. We do however have a zipper problem which we have dealt with temporarily but are having a problem getting a YKK No 7 slider to fix it as the zipper is fine, and really don't want to have to replace the zipper if I don't need to, but have been to canvas repairers, upholsterers and spotlight, no luck...I can however get 1000 of them from an importer! I just want one!
So until next time, I'm a happy camper
