Diprotodon’s Skull
The huge skull of a Diprotodon, a creature like a giant Wombat.
Day 71
Well, isn’t that the truth! It would seem that when you say to people “Have a good day” the quick response is that “Every day is a good day”. We have heard this many times before.
Andy was up early to write up the blog from yesterday. I think he mentioned 6.00 but I was lucky enough to get a cup of tea at 7.00.
I wanted to Skype the girls this morning while they were partying at Lynda’s. So it was down with the tea and out of the door and back to the Jolly Cauli for coffee and a bacon sandwich.
We decided to stay another night in Coonabarabran, we both feel exhausted from the continual running around and not to mention the late night last night, what a great night though! It gives us chance once again to catch up on some chores, just because we are not in a house does not mean to say that things don’t need doing. So I will do some laundry, help Andy tidy the truck.
We also want to play mini golf today; I saw an advertisement for it at one of the observatory’s.
Two Front Teeth
Its massive front teeth, similar to a Beaver That is one thing that has been lacking on this trip is mini golf and if there is one thing Andy and I love is to challenge each other. We are so competitive, neither of us like to loose and we bet each other on anything, even the blog now, we each have to guess how many hits we have had since the last time.
The lovely people in the Jolly Cauli have become interested in the blog and want to have a read, and so did the people last night at the star gazing.
Another 2 ½ hours satisfying our readers, (we have cast the die) and that’s the way it goes. Still we had breakfast whilst doing it.
Andy got talking to a reserve fire fighter in the Jolly Cauli, he explained that in 2006 a bush fire wiped out 100,000 hectares, they are so common and yet so deadly.
We had to go to the Information centre, as it seems the Mini golf has closed down, which was confirmed, what a bummer. At the information centre, they have the skeleton of a Wombat like creature that was 33,500, years old and was called
Body Skeleton
I would hate this beast chasing after me!! a Diprotodon. It was a large marsupial that became extinct about 20,000 years ago, during the Pleistocene time, this creature was a Megafauna, which meant, large animal, large, I should say so, not this sweet small furry Wombat we had stroked at Australia Zoo, this monster creature was as big as a cow.
We went back to the truck, to do chores, clean the truck out, charge the electrical stuff that needs charging, ipods etc, wash some clothes, listen to some music, and just generally have a lounge about, it was gloriously sunny and hot so why not!!
We are going to stay in the Warrumbungle National Park tomorrow, we may even break the swag out, in preparation for future usage.
It was an enjoyable, busy doing nothing really, but we needed it.
We cooked our tea, and updated the blog for today, as tomorrow, we need to pack away and move again.
