view from corner of Ocean and Pacific street
Thought you may want to see how we are doing with our new home? It's so very different to Swift Cottage, lots of space, big windows, heaps of light and high ceilings, some of our English furniture looks small here..........

Most of the pictures are of the outside, as you can see we have a lot of landscaping to do. Our home is on a corner and we've had a low wall built which will have wooden horizontal slats to finish it.
The house is designed to take account of the breezes, solar panels heat our water, a large in-ground concrete tank captures rain water and this is used for the washing machine, toilets and watering the garden. There is no water shortage here, recently we had a week of heavy rain, 6 inches fell in one night, had to go and buy some wellies (gum boots as I was promptly told) to hang out the washing.......but at least we've seen how we need to plan the garden drainage before we started to landscape.

We live upstairs to take advantage of the ocean views and it's been great to see the Humpback Whales migrating, they've pretty much gone south again now, though we did see one yesterday. Kangaroos are often sighted in the garden opposite shading from the heat. We are getting used to seeing them but it was strange to see about 12 on the grass verge as we left the pub at about 8.30pm last evening. a couple were boxing, so we kept well clear.

Will post more pictures of our progress soon and some of indoors.
