Had a restful night at lock 31, Buckhorn. We were able to get some needed supplies from Foodland just a short walk away.
It started out as a fine sunny day but when we arrived at our destination at Young's Point there was a severe thunderstorm watch. The rain started just as we were tying up the boat and the stiff arrived exactly as predicted.
We transited through three locks today and are now at the end of the line until they open more locks. No estimated timeframe as the water is still rising on Lake Ontario. There are 5 boats tied to the wall waiting. This is a pretty spot and there is one little general store where we can get ice for drinks and rumour has it there is a liquor store close by.
We spent the afternoon relaxing, reading and even had a nap. We both have pulled muscles from holding the beast on the lock walls so we could use the break, hope it isn't too long.
Not seeing much wildlife or birds. No blue herons, no fish jumping but plenty of mosquitoes. Lots of rock, tall pines and fast moving water, luckily
we are going with the current now. There is very little traffic, we saw one house boat come out of the lock so far and other than Saturday's traffic, we have been the only two boats in the locks. The Captain is pleased because this heavy boat is slow responding and does not stop easily.
