And what a day it was! We went from pain and suffering (me) to fun and frolic...preferring the latter. The morning took Cory and I up to Geneseo, NY where I have my annual mammogram done.....Ouch! I don't do the caffeine free bit anymore....just grin and bare it nowadays. Not that I've become braver...just too weak to give up the caffeine. I don't stay for the results so just wait and wait for their letter.....playing Russian Roulette. All has been good in the past so hopefully, it continues that way.....Knocking on Wood. After all the pain and suffering (I kept asking Cory if he felt sorry for me so I could suck in all the sympathy that I obviously deserved).....thoroughly describing the painful, pancake flattening procedure so he could imagine similar action on his jewels. He always moans in sympathy and fear. Then he gags!
Following this less than fun but necessary event, we eagerly headed back to our neck of the woods (which is harboring those two escaped prisoners right now if you are watching the news ---- in Friendship, NY...about 20 miles from where we live. Lulu has her eyes wide open in case they pass by our
house going to the PA. border...1 mile from our house. What a blog that would make!). Remember I mentioned in the last blog how we had 6 new tires put on our RV? - $$$$. The company invited us to their appreciation day party because we were now good customers. The Hess Tire place is located WAY, WAY up on a huge hill outside of Andover, NY. You can see forever. Definitely not on a main drag busy with people and vehicles. We thought it was going to be a simple chicken bar-b-que. Boy, were we wrong! It was busy with people and vehicles! There were some cars parked surrounding their buildings but there were also hundreds parked across the road in a big field. Cory had mentioned when he was there for the tires, how spotless clean and tidy their bays were. They were! They emptied two large bay buildings out and this is where they served the food, gave away freebies and everyone ate. The place was packed and immaculate. I think almost everyone from Allegany County was there! They served delicious chicken bar-b-que (cooked by various men and our Mennonite contractor, Nate...I've mentioned Nate in some of
Tons of Food
Tons of People my older blogs...a great guy). He said they cooked 1500 pounds of chicken! There was baked beans, Cole slaw, hot dogs, potato chips......everything home-made. For dessert: home made ice cream (Wowee- Zowie), frosted cake and huge doughnuts. All kinds of drinks to chose from. It was like a Golden Corral but better...and free! They didn't question going back for second servings or more...but a one time pass was more than plenty (bulge - burp). There were various farm and truck supplies on display...with more freebies. They had wagon rides drawn by horses. I didn't ride cause I always feel sad for the horses.....I just want then to sleep and eat. Cory thinks I'm crazy.....in the words of Sheldon Cooper: "I'm not crazy, my mother had me tested." Nate's family operates a small deli next to the tire place. I bought some yummy cookies. Free coffee for Seniors.....where-have-we-been? From now on, any and all tires will be bought here. No wonder they had so many attendees at their party. I wish you all could have been there in person......you would have had a wonderful time.....and we would have enjoyed your company again. I ate your portions for you....now you can call
me: SSS....Stout Swollen Sandy. Lulu is happy...she never gains an ounce! What a joy she is and a bragger. It's good we like chicken bar-b-que. We had another one today. The little town near us: Genesee, PA., had their Old Home Days. Cory bought their bar-b-que for us.....another yummer. For Father's Day, Wellsville has a chicken bar-b-que but instead, I am going to fix beef on weck and macaroni salad. You can only eat so many b-que's in row, you know, before you start clucking. All I care about is that I don't have to cook that much so am game anytime the chicken is on the grill (or barbie) somewhere. Wish we could share some with you. ?????????
Never feel sorry for us (but I do like sympathy) cause we live in such a desolate, rural area with limited things to see and do - without traveling hundreds of miles. Wal-Mart is 35 miles away! But look what we have....we are on CNN because of the escapees, missing Paul Ceglia (tried to sue Facebook) is from Wellsville and yet, we are able to attend various festive local events that serve chicken bar-b-que's.......what more could we ask? Join us
Nate & his daughter
Nate, daughter, friend if you are ever in our neck of the woods (accurate description) .......two empty bedrooms upstairs and a 50 amp plug for our RV friends. We'll leave the light on for you.
