Been thinking of all of you....wondering what this wonderful summer season has you doing. It's my favorite time of the year: warm weather, lush, green surroundings, gorgeous, blooming flowers and a chance to feel good & energetic. Yahoo for summer! In case you were wondering what we have been up to, I thought I'd give you an update...whether you want it or not...sassy mouth! Even though summer sounds marvelous, our summertime activities have mostly revolved around our motor home. Not for fun ...rats....it's only been for pricey repair work. Ugh! Remember our return trip "from Hell" when we left Florida? We certainly haven't forgotten it (Eeeck) even though it is a thing of the past.....it remains emblazoned in our minds forever. We knew we had to take the big, old (2008) buggy for some work. First, we took it to a Cummins Dealer (Elmira, NY) to have the diesel engine and all related looked at. They replaced the engine cooler device that was leaking coolant onto our fan belt...that broke on the major highway I-75 (probable cause), 'member? Ugh! They repaired the wiring in the back as we had no back end lights. Ugh! They serviced the generator and changed all
the fluids (oil, coolant, etc). Ugh! It took weeks before we could go get it and empty our pockets on their service counter. From there we drove the pumpkin coach to our regular RV service center in Caledonia, NY. Here, they found two cracked batteries so they replaced the four that worked together. They also inspected it (Ohio residents don't have to do this!....sure), checked the levelers and slides and made sure everything was good and in working order. Cory had to dig deep into his pockets, again. And we were still not done! Ugh! Cory took "Richie the RV" to a tire dealership (Andover, NY) and bought 6 new tires for it. Cory made holes in his pockets digging even deeper for some more $$$. For this purchase, we are invited to a customer appreciation Chicken Bar-B-Que this Friday at the tire place. Nice! ....but super expensive chicken! Obviously, we are keeping our fine, old rig.....not going to trade after investing this much money into it. Such is life. In the end, it is well worth it because we love the road-wandering lifestyle. Next on the agenda: doctor and dentist appointments. Could we be having anymore fun? YES! At
Mulligan's Brick Bar
Belly Up to the Bar, Cory least, as we travel for these many, varied appointments, we can enjoy and appreciate the beauty that surrounds us. Lulu, also, loves it all! I'm getting bed sores ( medical name: decubitus) from sitting in vehicles for so long and so much. Ouch!
Now we were ready for some fun and excitement. Last Saturday, we "shuffled off to Buffalo, N.Y.". Every year they have a huge (2nd largest in USA) art festival in Allentown, NY. .....almost in downtown Buffalo. As usual, it was crowded (we like that until someone coughs on your neck and sneezes in you face - ugh!) and filled with wondrous items crafted by talented artists. We must have walked 45 miles, taking a break at Mulligan's Brick Bar. Bought nothing cause we need nothing plus we are trying to down size what we have! We used to live in Buffalo ....where we met at UB and lived for 6 years. It's been awhile since we have been downtown. They are trying to rejuvenate the area, especially the riverside. We walked another 50 miles checking it all out. First, we went to the new hockey arena place.....Canalside. We had a drink and poutine (just for all
Steampunk Hat
And Wedding Pictures...all at the festival our Canadian friends) at the new restaurant called 716. It had thousand's of TV's and one the size of a drive-in movie behind the bar. We have never had poutine (we have had french fries & gravy, though) -- liked it a lot.....Aye. We saw one (there are more) of the "public" ice rinks.....all attached by a ginormous parking car garage. We then headed to the First Niagara Dome building where the Buffalo Sabres play. It was locked! Rats! Cory posed outside with the statues of "The French Connection".......he and our son, Cory, had watched them play way back when...gold seats, too. He took me to a hockey game....for our 25th anniversary. What a precious sweetheart! Nosebleed seats, too. Onward to the riverfront, also called Canalside. It was busy with people thoroughly enjoying the nice day and surroundings. We made the most of it, too. We even came across an ice cream guy pedaling his ice cream bike! Can you guess his name? This is unbelievable! It was Sam! Our Sam used to pedal his ice cream bike, too. Another "pop" at the pier of the Liberty Hound restaurant where we could watch the "Bike" Ferry, the tour sailboat and
Buffalo, NY
Grain Towers & Buffalo from Marina a kayaker turn upside down (on purpose) in the water. We walked (kind of more, dragged) along the marina where the big battleship boats are docked and open for visitors (we stayed on shore). There are remains of some of the Erie Canal still standing in the area. I rested in a huge, mega chair ( I liked it cause it made me look small) before crawling along the warm earth back to our car. Whew! A lot to see and do but very exhausting ......but it was still fun and exciting. Days later, I am still moving like the tin man in the Wizard of Oz. Creak, Creak! I think all the riding in the car & RV from one part of the state to the other made me like a car seat potato. I need to get up and get moving but even that has run into a challenging choice: our golf car gets us where we used to walk and appreciate our surroundings. I may need rehab to change my kooshie way of living. It's that or a bottle of Motrin a day which will have me bleeding from all orifices. It's like a Catch-22 situation. Decisions,
Decisions. We hope you have had only festive decisions to make and enjoy. Before we know it, the big, jolly elf will be visiting...only 20 Fridays before he arrives. Think about that! Ugh!
