Interstate 10 in Texas was very much like Intserstate 10 in New Mexico- BORING! We discovered satellite radio was a life saver and also realized Howard Stern can be quite funny when there is nothing else to pay attention to. The drive to Fort Stockton, TX dragged on but we finally approached the exit to our Holiday Inn Express, that once again we had booked through Priceline, usually saving at least $30. We pulled off the exit and the police were blocking traffic and rerouting us back onto the freeway til the next exit because the Best Western one building away from the HIE was on fire, and I mean raging flames on fire. So we went around and checked into our smokey hotel and hoped for the best. The only AAA recommended restaurant, K-Bobs Steakhouse, was closed by this time so shitty service over at IHOP it is. At least Fort Stockton had a few more gas stations and a population of about 7000 so a few more gas stations and a WalMart more than Lordsburg.
