Finally we are on vacay. After packing issues, lawyer hiccups, shop loose ends, accounting paperwork and not without a few toddler meltdowns did we finally leave. We travelled all the way to Riviere du Loup today. 500+kms and it went REALLY well - I expected so much worse! We are about 300kms from NB destination Campbellton but have decided on a two day stopover at Carleton -sur-mer first since its a beautiful area and it will be a final hoorah for "la belle province" before entering NB...it boast a great play area for Lucca (and dog) and wonderful warm water beaches. Right on our tail are all the QC vacationers for whom les vacances de la construction begins on Friday. We plan to be the **** out of Dodge by them (where the heck does that expression come from anyways?). Needless to say, we are thrilled just to be gone. Kids and dog and honey are sleeping as it is 9:30pm; we are parked alongside 40+other motorhomes and trailers at the local Walmart who like us are hoping to save the 30 or 40$ it cost to rent a camp space that won't really be used since like us they will be leaving early AM anyways. Its like a massive meeting of (cheap/smart?) travellers...but the view is still great as we are close to the St Lawrence Seaway. Room with a view (a nod to a great film eh?). Not sure if travelling is about escaping or finding or just hitting the pause button. To be honest, I just plan on watching my kids grow, and getting reacquainted with Pascal again. Maybe help the dog work out her shop withdrawal issues. Imagine, that for a very short time in my life, the only tough question I'll have will be: What's for lunch? To which I will without a doubt answer: who the heck knows, I'm on vacation!
Xxx love you all.
