Nice and Hot

We are south of the Chicago latitude and the weather is nice and hot. Just what the crew of Special Treat ordered. I haven't mentioned our boat name because we don't like it and want to change it to Drifter. We feel this new name is a better reflection of our style. boaters know that changing a boat name is bad juju so Special Treat it is.

We locked through twice today and had to have our first bridge lifted. The last lock was huge at 1200 feet long with a 38 foot descent. We had a floating bollard to tie up to, not my favourite type of lock.

Internet continues to be spotty so posting and keeping connected is challenging. When we stay at an ideL anchorage it turns out there is no internet.

The river is wider at this part but traffic is fairly light which means less waiting at locks.

We should be at the Illinois River junction in a couple of days which will mean the end of new territory for us. We have enjoyed this Upper Mississippi it is wilder and very picturesque.
