Bootsie Meets Zoe
This meeting wound up with Bootsie on a counter top and a confused Zoe, still wanting to play. October 23—After a 12 hour flight, I was certainly glad to be back “home”, glad to see Bootsie and glad to unkink my legs and more than glad to fall into bed.
Bootsie—Marty is back. I took my time greeting her, of course. I didn't want her to think I actually missed her or anything. I have to say though, I did enjoy the attention and the petting. I could have done with fewer hugs, though. Well-l-l maybe. Anyway, I did snuggle next to her at night. I was kind of glad to get back to our real home, too. Staying over at Tarena's house was kind of cool, as I said before. The only time I really got kind of bothers was when the baby came over. He always wanted to play with me, but squealed really loud and scared me. Then there was that mutt! Note from Marty--Wes and Falon's dog Zoe would come with them to visit. He wanted to play, I guess, but I wouldn't have it. He has too much energy for me! October 24-27—For these few days I did little more than unpack. Bootsie and I moved back to Danette's
Thanksgiving Cooks
Mark and Danette cook the Thanksgiving turkey and some other dishes. house and the RV. I had a bad cough which just kept getting worse. I had fought it the whole time in Hawaii, but guess the jet lag, change in temps (from the 80's to the 50's) and sight-seeing took its toll.
October 28-November 3: My chest and throat are really sore from coughing, so Danette and I tried to find a walk-in clinic so I could get some antibiotics. We couldn't find one anywhere nearby, so settled for an ER at the hospital not too far away. They decided I had a bad case of bronchitis (duh!) After a chest x-ray they further decided there was a possible onset of pneumonia, so they admitted me. I didn't get out for a week!!
Bootsie—Marty just got back then went away again. I tried to be a good cat. Did I do something wrong? [i November 4: Finally got discharged from the hospital with prescriptions for all kinds of medicines and appointment with several doctors. Danette and Tarena arranged for a portable bed in Danette's file room so I wouldn't be by myself in the RV.
Bootsie—She's back again, but we are in another house, not in Reese Enjoys Thanksgiving
Great-great nephew Reese was pretty excited by all the food on the Thanksgiving table. the RV. She stays in bed all the time. Something is very wrong. I am exploring the house, but staying close by her room. I think she needs me around. I snuggle with her, talk to her and give her kisses. She talks to me, but doesn't get up to play.
November 5-12: I stayed mostly in bed for this week. Thank goodness I am not coughing any more, but am very weak—no energy or stamina. If I stay up for an hour I have to go back to bed for three or four. Joy, Tarena and Danette had a yard sale on Friday and Saturday. They worked all week on sorting and pricing and I couldn't help even though I wanted to. I went out for a bit each day but the low temps and ever-present Texas wind drove me back in. Rats! I like yard sales!
November 12-23—Slowly getting my strength back and have moved back into the RV. I'm glad to be in my home and sleeping in my own bed. Have to say the family sure did take good care of me, though.
I have spent a lot of the down time making
Mark and Skye at her Birthday Celebration
Skye's birthday was on Thanksgiving, so we had a birthday "party" for her after dinner. Mark and Skye are Danette's good friends. “yard art”. Danette discovered this online and we have been creating them in her house. They are one to two foot “totems” made from odds and ends of plates, saucers, vases, cups, etc., which we buy from yard sales and thrift stores. I am having a ball putting them together. Danette gave them the name “Whimsical Art”. I call them “whimseys” for short. We tried to sell some at the yard sale, but it didn't happen. I don't know what we are going to do with them!
November 24—Happy Thanksgiving! We had the big dinner at Tarena's. Reese sat in his high chair and enjoyed it with everyone else. The year has gone so fast since he was born! Time flies when you're having fun and the good Lord knows I have been having fun. I have so much to be thankful for! He has truly blessed me. My cup overflows constantly! I am truly thankful for my wonderful family.
November 25-December 23—These weeks were spent decorating Danette's house, getting her tree put up and decorated, Christmas shopping, gift wrapping and driving around some of the neighborhoods with lots of lights and yard decorations. We stopped long enough
on the 30
th to go to a show at the Bass Theater in Ft. Worth. We saw the musical “White Christmas.” Some you older readers may remember the movie with Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney. Irving Berlin wrote the music. Of course the song of that name was famous and is still considered a Christmas classic. I had forgotten some of the other great music, though. The acting, singing and dancing was great. The theater is quite classy, also. We dressed up and even I looked pretty good!
Bootsie--Naturally, I helped decorate for Christmas, especially the Christmas tree. When they didn't put some of the balls where I thought they should be, I batted them off and made them rehang them. I played peek-a-boo with Marty through the branches. Christmas here is pretty cool! We don't get to have a big tree in the RV. I really liked the big tree. Also, don't let Marty and Danette take all the credit for those "whimseys. I inspected all the items they used in them and supervised while they put them together. I think I got a little drunk on the glue, though! The other activities included several arts

We also did our annual visitations of various Christmas places. One big Christmas store had fabulous decorated (artificial) Christmas trees and every kind of ornament imaginable. There was one tree that even blew “snow” on itself! We bought a few things, but mostly looked.
The town of Mesquite had a Christmas-in-the-Park festival which Danette and I visited with her friend Mark and his daughter Skye. It was quite impressive with lots of booths, displays, entertainment and games for the children.
One of the best shows was the Nativity display at one of the Churches of the Latter-day Saints. The number and variety of nativities was incredible.
December 24-25—Merry Christmas. We had our “progressive” Goss-Hanson-Hayes Christmas celebration. Christmas Eve we ate at Danette's and opened some presents. Christmas morning was at Ward and Tarena's and afternoon and dinner at Ryan and Tiffany's, with more presents. As usual, I made out like a bandit
I Didn't Do It!

I think everyone was pretty happy with all the presents they got from everybody else. We do tend to go all out!
December 27—The last night in the Dallas area. Tomorrow Dan, Joy and I pull out for the trek to Florida and another new year. What a great year 2011 has been for me! I look forward to more travels, more NOMAD projects, visiting more friends and family and meeting new friends. I hope your new year is full of blessings and joy.

Love the cat
Marty, Your cat looks a lot like our neighbor's cat that thinks he lives at our house when we are home. He and Max were best friends and after we lost Max he decided to take his place. When we're home he spends most of his time on our sun porch and the owners say he wants to stay inside most of the time when we're gone. He's a really sweet and friendly cat but huge. How big is bootsie? I think Mr.. Middles must weigh at least 25 lbs. but he's not really fat just huge.
