The timing of our flight in the afternoon meant that there was not a lot of time to do much in the morning so we spent the time shopping. Our friends took us to some of the out-of-town shops. The prices were shockingly low compared to the UK - about one dollar for one pound in the UK. The food was also seriously cheap, with bottomless soft drinks and bottomless chips (proper "fat chips" and not those usual stringy fries) as well - which I have not seen back home. I avoided the runny cheese.
Milwaukee was only a small airport, but there are flights to Toronto so it saved us having to go back to Chicago.
When we arrived at our hotel in Chicago we had been given a room upgrade to an absolutely huge suite. It was massive so the kids could both have their own rooms and we had a lounge to relax in as well.
I spent a year travelling around the world and that gave me a real love of travel. I have since been inter-railing in Europe twice. Now my travel is limited to the annual two week holiday with the family - although we still manage to cover some distance and certainly try to avoid limiting ourselves to two weeks by a swimming pool, despite the protests from the kids.... full info
