From Seattle to Phoenix to Madison this week. Training this coming week in Chicago area, meant time to fly into Madison - visit Zoe and friends - plus be a bit of a tourist in where I once called home. I arrived in to MSN late, and after upgrading to a Subaru Outback rental car - another driver decided to test the side air bags and see if Subaru's safety claims were true at my disposal. The other driver ran a red light and t-boned me as I was turning left. I am sure her night went worse than mine after she appeared to fail the sobriety test and did a breathalizer. Saturday started out well with Monty's blue plate, getting Zoe and spending the day hanging with the worlds greatest dog. Madison is known for ... read more

After coming back to Chicago, I spent about 10 days in Racine with my parents before heading off on one last trip. I had decided to move to Seattle, Washington for the summer. I was driving out in my '90 Honda Accord with a college friend, however, I don't think he knew what he was getting into. He was moving from Madison, so I met up with him there. The evening before we left, we were driving out to dinner with his family in my car, who were in town to help him pack, and he reached for the radio, I replied, "sorry, did I forget to mention? the radio doesn't work," then as he was warm from moving he tried to turn on the AC, which yielded a "whoops, did I forget that too? that ... read more

To Wisconsin and Back, via Tonica, Ill This was quite a Weekend trip. I think I can speak for every UD student who went that we were all exhausted at the end, but the trip was very fulfilling and helpful. We began by taking the not so best way to get to Madison from Dayton, Ohio by driving through Champagne, Illinois instead of Chicago to miss the traffic, but it took forever. We also stopped every other twenty minutes or so, so that slowed us down. We also drove through Normal, Illinois, the home of Steak n' Shake. Finally, we stopped in a town called Tonica. BIG MISTAKE. That town was the definition of sketch. The gas station parking lot was way too big for what it needed to be and had enormous puddles everywhere. Beyond ... read more

Oh wait...I mean A LOT. Sarah and I drove through 6 hours of rain today, starting as a heavey mist then turning into an angry downpour. Upon re-entering the state of Wisconsin, lightning lit up the cloudy night sky for a full 3 seconds. We were left speechless, and...well, I nearly peed myself. I am noticing the popularity of water parks in the midwest. Big, huge complicated resorts that resemble those transluscent hamster tubes you can buy at PETCO and put together yourself litter the countryside. The plains must be BANGIN' during the summer!! :D Our two performances of Mozart today went extremely well. This 21 minute aerobic work-out is by far one of my favorite plays to have ever performed. It's commedia del arte style, which is a traditional Italian form of theatre. I love ... read more

Soooo...... its taken me a while to Blog, but the midwest is infamous for small towns with no internet connection. Its been a really great journey. Markuz and I are hilarious people, so we keep each other entertained. We've been touched by amazing children, and great educators. We have also had a few underwhelming experiences, but thats okay too. I'll share.... Our first stop was in Loa, Utah.....Ahhhh So cold, and so small. we drove through hours of nothing and landed in a tiny little town. We arrived at about midnight and stayed in the Snuggle Inn. Cute. The teachers and students were great and they told us that we were the best traveling team that they had ever seen. Yay for us on our first show. (Since then in 1 1/2 weeks KB has recieved ... read more

Today's big adventure was to find Spring Green, WS, and the House on the Rock. I know there are many who have no clue what we are talking about, but even so, if you are ever within a five hour drive, you gotta see this thing! It is literally a house built on/in a rock formation in rural Wisconsin. So why is this so interesting??? Well, first off, it was constructed by a guy named Alex Jordan, who has no formal training in engineering architecture. He had a dream, and finally convinced the city to let him do it... once he proved of course that it would not fall down! There is a room that is literally constructed of three steel beams and glass (the floor is now plywood for people to walk on). It is ... read more
