Funny how we can manage to write everyday while we're halfway across the
world in Africa, but we can't seem to find a spare moment now that we're
home!

The trip home was long, but Tigist handled it like a champ! Minimal tears
and hours of entertainment putting toys in and out of the barf bag. The only
problem was when a little girl next to us needed the bag and Tigist was
reluctant to give it up!

We arrived home safe and sound on Saturday night 5.2.09 as scheduled. Pat
and Kathy were at the airport to pick us up with camera in hand! They had
been busy at work as we arrived home to a totally clean house and a kitchen
stocked with fresh vegetable (yum!), all Tigist's favorites (baby food, rice
cereal, fresh fruit and a new favorite--animal crackers), and just about
anything else we might need for the next few days. There were also welcome
home banners and balloons! Our next door neighbors the Muller's all came out
to greet us as we pulled up. It was a joyful, teary welcome home.

We're slowing settling into a routine close to what Tigist had at the Foster
Center. She gets up around 7am, has a healthy breakfast, we play for a few
hours, lunch is around noon, followed by a nap (two hours on a good day),
then a few more hours of playing and maybe a short outing (a walk in the
stroller by the waterfront, a trip to the store or even a short visit to the
aquarium). Dinner is around 6pm. We're doing a bath every other night and
bedtime is around 7 or 7:30pm.

Yesterday Brian went out and got Tigist a boom box and now we're all rockin'
out to They Might Be Giants "Here come the One, Two, Threes." We highly
recommend it. Tigist really likes music, especially Bob Marley! We rounded out the afternoon with a quick trip to the zoo. It was very rainy, so we practically had the entire park to ourselves. We focused on the aquarium and the meerkats. Sharks are a little scary, so ending with the cute little meerkats seemed to balance out the experience.

Welcome back!
Welcome home Mannellys! We loved seeing the photos. Tig and Apollo look like they are just about the same size cuddling on Katrinka's lap - I know it won't last long, but how cute to hold them both while it lasts! Love, April and Alex
