The Top Floor!!! We were on Floor 14!
The title of today’s blog is an actual mural that we saw today in Portland. And while Oregonian’s are quite nice I got to say there are a few kooky things about this state. The first is you try to pump your own gas, be prepared to be tackled, because it is not legal due to “safety reasons”. Also Oregon has no sales tax, which the girls capitalized on today. They did some power shopping at Pioneer Place in downtown Portland today. Also to be clear I am a Californian girl and all for being green but I have noticed that the fine folks of Oregon take recycling very, very seriously, they almost militant about the issue. I saw a T-Shirt today on a guy that said something along the lines of recycle or we will kick you’re a$%! My favorite stop however was Powell’s Books. This bookstore was over 60,000 square feet of new and used books. Seriously they hand out maps at the entrance so you can find your way back to the cash registers!! I could have gotten lost for hours in this place but Seattle was beckoning. We left Portland for our three hour drive to Seattle

late afternoon. We have also noticed a lack of the availability of Mexican food since leaving Cali, so the girls begged for Taco Bell “drive thru” on the way to Seattle! (Yeah, I know ick)

We reached Seattle just in time to see Safeco Field all lit up for a Mariners game. It was very cool! We checked the schedule and may try to catch a game. After navigating a road closure (I like to call it an unexpected “tour”) we checked into the Edgewater Hotel near Pikes Market. The Edgewater actually sits on the Seattle pier and overlooks Elliot Bay some of the more notable guests include the Beatles, Led Zeppelin and now… yes, the Ross family! It’s a beautiful spot with great views. I was able to score an upgrade to a junior suite & after checking in Rob and I snuck out for a relaxing drink in the very cool bar that sits right along the water and watched the ferries come in. Tomorrow we have Pike’s Market, Starbucks #1 and possibly the Rock & Roll museum planned.

Check out the video blog the girls put together for today!

Cheers! Christie & Rob
