14th June, 2009. Seattle, Washington.
Over to Bainbridge Island this morning (about an hour and a quarter away), to board a Ferry for the crossing to Seattle, a 35 minute ride.
Not a lot of traffic around, everyone must have been still tucked up in bed.
Had a walk around the wharf area, plenty of touristy shops and restaurants mainly serving fish, and a few buskers - nice area. Came across a curiosity shop, well worth a look, they have Walrus penises, two mummified people (from not so long ago either) + a lot of other interesting bits and pieces.
Then up to "Pike Place Market", a market with about three hundred stalls, restaurants and shops, well worth a look. Some of the food looked very interesting and a number of outlets had lines of people outside. The fish mongers were entertainers as well - they chanted and threw the product from the runner to the filleter/wrapper. Gaylene you would have been interested in the amount and different types of flowers for sale, took pictures but they don't do it justice.
Saw lots of interesting stuff, but nothing that we wanted, or couldn't buy cheaper at home.
Then back down
to the wharf for a late lunch, Sam had Seafood Chowder in a loaf, tasted great, and I had a truck load of bread with half a beast and a Kilo of cheese, no wonder there are so many obese people over here (I couldn't eat half of it).
Back across and a trip to a casino where Sam lost out fortune ($5) and I won two cents, after playing for some time.
We have seen in a number of states fireworks for sale - just sheds on the side of the road, today we saw a marquee on the side of the road selling fireworks.
Back home and Mexican for dinner - Margarita for Sam of course, great meal.
