Happy Inauguration Day!!!! What a wonderful moment in time to be alive and to witness a whole nation that has chosen to make a change. Pretty powerful stuff, it seems it can only get better from here. Hope you all find a memorable way to celebrate and remember this blessed day.
On that note I am sure most of you have heard by now through the grapevine……Tim and I are going to join the parents club. Less than Nine months from now we will have a new edition in our lives and probably the biggest adventure yet. We are both very excited and ready for this next branch of life. I don’t think it could have happened at a better time. It is giving me a chance to jump out of limbo land with the medical field not knowing what is going on with me. I could rant and rave about that whole experience but I won’t. Let’s just say it has been a learning lesson as to how frustrating our medical system is and how it is run. We still have no definite answers as to what has been going on with my body. Tim has been a
Busy Baking over the holidays!
We put a bun in the oven....... wonderful support through some of the darker hours of not knowing. I have learned how to walk around in my body and not so much in my mind. Through the use of meditation, deep breathing, and visual excersies I have been able to manage my pain. Plus the help from my wonderfl friend Heather who had volunteered many hours of massage. What I have learned about taking conscious care of body in the last 6 months will now be used to help the child in me grow. Sometimes in life there are no clear answers and so all I can do is move on to the next chapter and hope that at a later chapter in my story things will be solved with my health.
Speaking of chapters and stories I am now pursuing a life long dream of writing. Having extra time on my hands to sort out health issues also allowed me to start focusing on some other important and some what forgotten dreams. I have now structured a life style that allows time for me to create stories and begin the steps involved in getting the stories to publishers. My goal is to get at least one
story in print by my next birthday. I love every minute of this new pursuit and have almost become a nerd when it comes to research and studying. I finally found a topic that I could study over and over. There is a lot more that goes into children stories than you would think.
So that is the up-date that has been long overdue. We had a wonderful winter wonder land to play in over the holidays. Some dear friends drove all the way from Cali. to visit and play in the snow with us. Hope you are all well and enjoying the new year! Love hearing from all of you so please keep us posted. We hope to keep you posted with all the latest news on the baby as well. I have an aunt in Spokane who is already thinking of having a baby shower for us. So when that date is known we will let you know. Much love to everyone and our new president!!!!!
It's been an interesting ride indeed. Last summer we returned from Guatemala, most of you know that. We came back to pursue medical care for Natalie. We chose Bellingham
largely because we have some community resources here that Natalie was hoping to draw on for support. A friend who is a masseuse has been providing incredible physical and emotional support for Natalie. She has been a blessing for our lives and well being and probably made the move worthwhile in itself.
The other aspect of Bellingham that drew us back is the outdoors. We have both been enjoying the outdoors here as much as possible the last 6 months. I guess that's a given for us but I've been biking steadily and am getting fired up for ski season. Natalie has been hiking some and enjoying the lovely little lake that we live by and the nature trails where she or I or both of walk the dogs regularly. We are renting a little house just outside of town by Toad Lake that is just far enough to feel like a commute, 10 minutes, and just secluded enough to give us some peace from the city pace. During the December snowstorm we were essentially snowed in for 10 days or more. Our van does horribly in the snow. We did manage to get into town after a week
or so to get groceries and the next day to go to Natalie's Birthday party in town. Both occasions were an adventure getting home. There is a pretty long hill that leads up to Toad Lake and our chains seem to work better on snow than pavement so one wheel spinning the other gripping all the way up the hill. Both times with Natalie sitting in the back for extra weight over the wheels and yelping like a cowgirl as I fish-tailed, swerved and generally drove like a jackass trying to keep some traction while the motor, which tends to overheat, was racing at about 4000 rpm's. Not the most relaxing drive home but entertaining to say the least.
That said, we bought ourselves a beater Subaru so that we don't have to worry about the trouble laden old van. The Subaru has troubles of it's own but it's more fun to work on so I'm happy. As to work as Natalie mentioned as part of her introspection about what healthy choices she can make for herself this Children's book dream has arisen. Good-on-‘er, I say. She is very cute lately cuddling up with the dogs on the couch
and reading them children's books. Singer is a good audience, Ruby seems to have a short attention span though.
All in all we are finally getting caught up and feeling like we have some routine about our lives here. I’m working full time and am still looking to improve my income but am happy with my schedule now so things are good. I have time to do side jobs and have some fun as well as support Natalie. She is needing to sleep more now. Anyway, life is good we are grateful for all we have these days. We are also gratefully expecting a baby in early September. Today we had a wonderful visit to a local birthing center where we will have a team of 3 midwives to support us through this exciting process. The visit was a breath of fresh air after having such sordid encounters with Dr.’s in the area lately. Furthermore, due to our “povertous” income status the state will pay for all Natalie’s medical including the birthing center during the pregnancy. So, despite feeling poor and not having all the toys we crave we are overwhelmed with gratitude for all that we do have. Love to all! Timmy
P.S. Hoooraay for Inauguration Day!

Congratulations!
Hi Natalie and Tim, I am also happy over having a new president and hope he can accomplish all he wants to. Hopefully, he will end these horrible wars and remedy our economic system etc. I am glad to hear you are doing well and congratulations on expecting your first baby. I can relate to you Natalie regarding Drs. I've had my share of experiences and still am in pain. Hope to see you when you are in Spokane the next time. I enjoyed your e-mail and both of you are very good writers. Good luck on that project. Love Christa
