I have finally hit the three month mark in the USA and I still have no intention of leaving anytime soon. The last few weeks have been challenging to say the least but the adventures every weekend seem to make it really worth while. Every weekend we have tried to see a new place and as far as saving is concerned, lets just say that I'm rich with experience that you cannot put monetary value on.
I have been hanging around Ritanas side of Alexandria as I am quite fond of the people there and I enjoy how we can throw ideas together and go with them. Two Thursdays ago, Ritana delivered some heartbreaking news that she might go home due to her father having a heart attack but by Friday he managed to pull through and I was overjoyed with the news that she was staying so on Saturday we decided it was a good idea for a pancake breakfast and an adventure. Eduardo's sense of direction is great and he decided to treat Ritana and I to a trip to Shenandoah National Park. It was freezing up there but it was incredibly beautiful and the winding roads up
made me think of my dad and my brother as their driving would be less than civil. I cannot wait to visit the place in summer when the temperature is above -5 degrees Celsius. We had a blast getting away from the hustle of the Au Pair life. The three of us went to Georgetown in the evening, it is a really cool university town. It was a good way to end the night on a not-so-sober note.
Two Tuesdays I woke up with a kidney infection and the following day my little Brentan woke up with a tummy bug so it wasn't the most pleasant week for us and to top it off, Ritana's dad had another heart attack so this time round she had to go back to Pretoria and I don't think I have been as devastated in the longest time. We had twenty-four hours to pack her entire life up and have her ready to go home. I am so grateful for the three months we had together as she was my home away from home and whenever I was upset she would come over and find a way to cheer me up. It is going
to take some getting used to as it still feels as if she is around the corner, thankfully I have Lucie and Eduardo who keep me laughing and are always up for spontaneous adventures.
Two Saturday's ago, we decided to visit Baltimore as Lucie and Eduardo wanted to see the aquarium, it reminds me of Cape Town's aquarium and as much as I don't support captivity, I have to suck it up and appreciate the fact I get to spend time with people who enjoy having me around. Thankfully they are so open to supporting my vegetarian needs but refuse to try that lifestyle.
Still have so much to see and do here but I am slowly but surely completing my bucket list.
Lots of love
