I Spent most of the day driving across Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey just so I could get my hands on one of those famous Philadelphia cheesesteak sandwiches. Well........... After eating a "world famos GENOS cheesesteak sandwich, I was left with the feeling that they wern't all that after all, until Todd suggested trying another one fron the neighboring compettion across the street "Pat's" Now where talkin!!!! The guy suggested that I have some melted cheese on it and it made all the difference, and for those of you that are keeping count, yes I had two cheese steak sandwhiches!!! What???? The night passed without any problems - no rain, wind or unwelcome visitors. The fellow who had been in the shelter packed up and was gone about 5:30AM. A second hiker had come in after we went to bed, his tent was up near the privy. He wasn't up when CC and I climbed out of the tent. We had everything packed except for the food bags before 7:30. We had a nice hot breakfast with hot beverages from our re-supply box:-) We were on the trail by 8:15 heading up Pine Mtn from 4,050' to 5,000'. From here south the elevations bounce up to the 6,000' range here and there. The climb wasn't too bad with much of the trail at 3% grade or less. We started out in the hardwoods but soon it changed ... read more

We can stand to loose a few more pounds, but as far as walking ability we are real tough now. We started walking at 9AM and made the 10.2 miles in a total time of five hours. That includes all breaks which are fewer than they used to be. We woke up around 6:45AM and took our time packing up. Breakfast was at the diner, we sat down at 8AM. CC ate French ... read more
