Left the little Tennessee campground this morning @ 8:00 AM. I’m still not feeling as spunky as I should, so after taking a truckload of healing pills, I slept on the couch for 3 hours. I have no idea how Cory managed driving alone without my navigation skills to assist him....but he did. We made only a couple stops for gas & McDonald’s french fries (the best).
Started calling for campgrounds @ 3:00 pm....only problem we were back in EST so it was actually 4:00. Forgot it was Memorial Day weekend, too. All campgrounds for miles & miles around were completely full. Figured we would just keep driving till we came to a truck stop....not even sure about them. Cory finally had to pull into a rest area ‘cause his legs felt paralyzed. He dragged himself out of the RV just to move around. I saw a grounds worker and asked if we were allowed to stay overnight here. She said “Sure...just don’t put out your awnings!” Great! We’re staying. (She had some of the worst teeth I’ve seen....just shells of decayed missing teeth....sad). Enough. This is what’s nice about having an RV. Your home is wherever you park it.
It’s toasty warm right now....we could run our generator, engine or inverter to operate our fans or a/c. We have opted for open windows and use our portable, battery powered fan. We bought these Ryobi fans when Dear Chip was alive. We used them on him whenever it was too warm anywhere ...inside or out. Only the best for him! God, I miss him so. Just a few minutes ago, our daughter Kim sent a text stating they had to put their dear, sweet dog, Cinder, down. Oh, how our hearts ache for them. We know what they are going through. Cinder was a black lab. I think he was @ 14 years old...not sure. He got all the old dog ailments so the time had come....today. I can see Chip racing to see his old buddy so they can play together once again. Cinder, we are going to miss you. You were a wonderful dog....just like your cousin Chip.
Wait a minute....I have to pull myself together here. I get so emotional at times like this.
Back at the rest stop....our home for the night. Nothing much or special here. It’s a small area. We are located
near 108 on I-81, Christiansburg, VA. A bunch of motorcyclists pulled in (noisy) and left. Supper will consist of cheese & crackers, Oreo cookies, Ruffle potato chips, peppermint patties and my chocolate bar cake....plus drinks. While Cory was checking on our car, a nice fellow came by and visited with him. He was interested in owning a motor home. His girlfriend wants to travel around and be a camp worker. His name is Red. He’s driving a huge orange semi truck. He’s either from Minnesota or Missouri. I can only remember it began with an “M”. And then you know the rest of the story. Lulu heard us talking and flew out of the RV for one more photo shoot with another nice man. Her reputation precedes her. She may have to spend some time in a convent.
Well, I promised you the list of everything we had done on our RV while in Red Bay, Alabama. I bet you know more about Red Bay than you ever thought you would. Here are the lists plus some. Everything took one week to be done....minus the weekend when no one worked. Impressive, wouldn’t you say? The only way I could
post the lists are as photos. To be able to read these photo lists, tap on each photo and it will enlarge so you can see it better. Keeping tapping one after another....there’s a lot to review because we had a lot done on Pretty Penny.
******These are the extra things we wanted done or needed done:
Replaced clouded entrance door window - Shane
Finally fix of our levelers- Brent
Paint shop: painted satellite dome
Painted small outside compartment door over heater unit. We had already purchased the new door from him.
******These are our own expenditures while at Red Bay:
We bought: new sewer hose set up, extra keys made up + new markers for them, bought sprays: T9 & 303, a new window latch, Pine Power, white water hose, new fuse/light for bottom entrance step, 2 cheap bag chairs, 2 T-shirts from Rattlesnake Saloon, used Tiki head, 4 Mexican cookies, couple small gifts, a shirt for me at Walmart, old wooden parrot, Tiffin coffee cup, Alabama hat for Cory, sample tubes of lotions for me (25 cents).
The one picture is how I envision all of you trying to read
through my “Bigger Blogs”. They are not short & sweet .....none of them!
And that’s all she wrote for tonight. Back on the road tomorrow. Get a good nights sleep everyone!
