After 2 days in Las Vegas, I took a Greyhound night bus to Salt Lake City. The ride was about 9 hours long, and unlike the trip from Vancouver to Edmonton, there were no mountains and no snow, so the scenary out of the window was pitch black. This atrium was so strikingly similar to Vancouver Library, that I thought I was in Vancouver when I entered this library.

There's a difference between the SLC Library and Vancouver Library. Vancouver Library's outer wall is perpendicular to the floor and it has a vertical edge. SLC Library's outer wall is slanting inwards and its height decreases as it spirals outwards.

Opened in 1892, the building was restored in 1989 and it's still in use today.

The former railway station is now integrated into Gateway, a shopping center.

Olympic Snowflake Fountain (There are no snow in the fountain, only water.)

Besides being a shopping center, Gateway is also a memorial of the 2002 Olympics. Hence there are "olympic fires" around Gateway. The fire looks so cool! (But it feels warm.)

A great overview
You did such a nice job presenting SLC from the perspective of a visitor. And I'm glad that you enjoy architecture, because SLC has some gems. (Of course, I'm biased, I lived there for 5 years!)

You have a good eye for architecture!
In fact, Israeli/Canadian/American architect Moshe Safdie designed both the Salt Lake City and the Vancouver libraries. Nice catch!
