Where on Earth are Steve and Trung?

Moab, Utah, USA

From our previous trips Inter Railing around Europe, we have found that you meet many folks on the road who are eager to share their travelling success stories and anecdotes and urge you to visit a place that they have been. Sometimes you take the advice and sometimes you dont. When you do take the advice, sometimes it turns out to be good and other times it doesnt... each to their own and all of that!

Luckily for us, having been pointed in the direction of the Lazy Lizard hostel in the adventure seeking town of Moab in Utah, we came up trumps. So, okay, the Lazy Lizard wasnt the freshest bed in town but the residents (some long term, middle aged guys) were really friendly and gave us some decent advice for our visit.

Outside of the digs, we found Moab to be the perfect base for visiting the many wonderful and intriguing instances of Utah's geological treasures. We visited two national parks here: Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. These places were home to crazy stone formations of needles, arches, dunes, stacks etc. For a blog, im not even going to try and make rocks sound
interesting so check out the snaps below. What an enchanting place on Earth!

Most of the shots were taken between the Arches and Canyonlands National Parks, the latter which is less frequented by tourists but which completely took our breathes away, especially the massive canyons and the stunning view over the Green River - majestic! I'll never forget that. Oh, we also fitted in some pretty tough going 8 mile desert hike, literally in the middle of the desert. Man, did that create a drouth and a half - phew!
